In most Asian countries, even being alittle chubby makes you stand out. So many of those girls face alot of criticism about their body, whether it's intentional or not.

 

This is actually a little irritating. "I'm fat, I'm fat. I can't do this or that because I'm fat. I can't like senpai because I'm fat. No one will like me because I'm fat." No, no one likes you because you're so damn pessimistic. I don't see why her senpai fell for her like that when most of the time she was complaining about her body image and worrying about getting skinny so senpai will like her (which makes her and her feelings towards him shallow). The her "working hard" part was such a short montage too.

Wow, if thats fat then my girl is a humungous sloppy beast!.. My girl is perfect and a little thick and I love it.. I cant stand little skinny bitches with no meat and then complain they are fat.. Thats what bothered me about this series is all she does is think of herself as fat and "not good enough", when she is beautiful... I seriously feel bad for Japanese women if it is truly like this in Japan.

For Asian girls in the east asia area, the norm is very small and thin. I'm often frightened by how abnormally thin their ankles are (like twigs).

Well its probably because I'm a guy but I noticed the line "her breasts are huge" when outside his school. I don't recall seeing at any point during this an angle that showed that. Most the time it looked like it was trying to show her lack of appeal. Kinda bugged me so I thought I would share

I would've liked this story more if the author had made an effort to draw a chubby girl. As it is, her proportions are a bit more realistic than the usual shoujo heroine - but still not even remotely chubby.
@ Cydric I had a similar experience back in university. One of my housemates was a skinny girl from Thailand, and whenever she had something like fried chicken, she would moan about how fat she was. You can imagine how that made the rest of us feel (!)

I know what you mean, my friend from Japan said she got fat, but I didn't see the difference. In fact I liked it that she gained some weight, coz she was like a stick.
