#1519178 I'm a floater(freelancer)^_^

Posted by Radioactivekitty on 11 March 2015 - 10:35 PM

OMG, we are actually looking for Japanese to English translators!

I'm from Forgotten Scans, and I would like to invite you to speak with our Admin, Radioactivekitty.

If you look at new recruitment posts after this thread, you will see our recruitment page and the current projects where we would like translators to sign up:

https://vatoto.com/forums/topic/22062-forgotten-scans-is-recruiting/

Please message me or Radioactivekitty (https://vatoto.com/forums/user/96061-radioactivekitty/) if you are interested in anything we have avaliable.

Don't worry about grammar or proofreading, we can sort and handle all that if needs be.

As for you being a floater, it wouldn't seem too important for the time being, so we won't worry about that.

Ahem, Acorn, if I recall correctly, I have sent this individual a personal message :)

Hey, Xuan!  Welcome ^_^

#1518983 (⌐ _ ) Forgotten Scans is recruiting

Posted by Radioactivekitty on 11 March 2015 - 07:18 PM

Hey there!

This is my first time to post a recruitment thread for the group!   My name is Radioactivekitty (yes, I am not kidding), and I am the current administrator of this group (•_•)...

Forgotten Scans was officially founded circa September 2013 by an individual named Michael, and he did so with these three guiding principles:
1) Staff are the most important part of the group
2) Long abandoned, forgotten projects are what we seek to scanlate
3) The integrity of the group, the staff, and the manga that we produce will be ensured if we stick to our values (you can read more about our values on the website)

As a group, we welcome those who have a lot of experience or none at all.  We hope that by joining us you will help make an impact in a world of so much manga that needs to be translated.  In the process of doing so, we hope that you will learn new things, have fun with your fellow staff members, and find scanlation to not be merely a chore but also an experience that you cannot find elsewhere!
----------------------------------------------

With that being said, let me now explain who we are recruiting at the moment:

We are in most dire need of Japanese - to - English translators.  This applies to the following projects:

We are currently scanlating Sengoku using translations that were posted on Manga Helpers by an Illuminati-Manga translator.  Starting with chapter 36, we will immediately stop scanlation if there are no available translations.  We are currently working on chapter 31.
Warning:  this is a mature manga for ages 17+.  Underage individuals seeking to translate this series will need to discuss translation of the manga with the administrator before signing on to do the work.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu - Batoto Link - Manga Updates Link
Baka to Test is currently being translated by staff who are quite busy with other work as it is.  Scanlation will forever continue slowly - with releases only happening every 2 months or so - if the translators don't have someone help relieve the pressure.

We are also in need of Chinese - to - English translators.  This applies to the following projects:

Origami Fighter - Batoto Link - Manga Updates Link
We currently have a translator engaged in Origami Fighter, however, his work is slowed due to work outside of scanlation.  If a translator signs up to work on Origami Fighter, he will resume his work of translating Black Dog.  This would greatly speed up work on Origami Fighter and allow him to focus entirely on translating Black Dog (a really popular project).

We would like to start a new division for subbing anime.  This applies to the following projects:

Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo (1996) - aniDB link
A long time ago, the founder of this group was also engaged in subbing anime.  We released two episodes of the series cited above.  We are in contact with someone that can provide us with translations for this series, we just need more people able to work on the technical side of things.  If you are an individual that has any experience in subbing, we would appreciate your assistance.

----------------------------------------------

Our Sub-Division 2 leader would also like to pick up the following series, provided that we have a translator to work on it:

Fate/Strange Fake: (a side story to Fate/Stay Night (5th Grail War), and set before this main series)

After the end of the third Grail War, a group of magi separate from the London based Mage Association decided that they would copy the ritual. They only managed to copy part of the ritual, which lead to the loss of the Saber class and further loss of the definition of a "Hero." The magi eventually infiltrated the U.S. Government and for two hundred years manipulated events in Snowfield, California to replicate the Sacred Land needed to generate a Grail.

Note that Fate/Strange Fake does not have a Manga Update or Batoto link, as it is a brand new series.

Who can join:
  1. We are currently in need of translators.  However, we will accept other applicants, provided that he/she pass the relevant tests. If he/she joins the group and there is no work that can be done, I will ask if he/she would like to work at one of our affiliated groups such as Artificial Demons or BlastComic Scans in the interim while he/she is waiting for available work.
  2. We could also use help from...
    1. Those with experience in subbing to work on the new series cited above.
    2. Programmers (Python/PHP/HTML) to work on the Kittybot or our recently renovated online reader.
    3. Artists seeking to help work on our website and create colorful banners or create background graphics for the online reader (or any artist can just submit cool art to be placed on the homepage ^__^).  We would also like to revive the birthday banner program for staff members to honor their birthdays.
    4. Quality checkers, who can make sure that the chapters meet our standards and are ready for release.
    5. Those who would like to work in our Social Networking Department - to post trivia and comments and do other cool stuff associated with Forgotten Scans Social Networking.
    6. Also... we welcome friendly individuals looking to keep our tired staffs occupied with discussions about manga/anime/and random things in our chatroom~

      3. Quality checking...which does not have a test...yet...
      4. The Social Networking Department,

    6. Editors (just requires both Cleaner and Typesetter tests).
  4. Regarding the tests...each test that is submitted is graded on a point scale and feedback is sent to the test taker.  Therefore, by taking the tests, you will gain experience and eventually pass it if you want to.  We also try to provide links to helpful tutorials and any other relevant details particular to the position that you are applying for.   Whether you are a well-educated editor with real-world experience, or if you are just starting out for the first time, we will accept your application and provide you with feedback.
  5. Please be patient as grading a test can take an immense amount of work.
Thank you very much for reading this.  If you have any questions just reply to this thread and I will do my best to provide you with the answers you seek.

With much appreciation,
Radioactivekitty
