About Me

Out of all the profiles, in all the manga hosts, in all the internets, you walk into mine

Well weary traveler, you are rewarded with a fat stack of manga that I have noted over the years. It's pretty bare-bones, but I'll try to flesh it out with time. Their genres can vary quite a lot, therefore order is not a direct ranking, but highly recommended ones tend to be higher. Leave a quick comment if this helped you out, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Enjoy!

  • Wakusei no Samidare/Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer: Instant modern classic. Action, romance, and comedy all wrapped in an addicting plot. A must read for everyone See Also: Anything by storytelling master, Mizukami Satoshi
  • Shingeki No Kyojin - This ones for those who enjoy darker, survival themed plots. Excellent plot and action. See also: Bokurano, Battle Royale, Cradle of Monsters
  • Baccano! - One of my favorite animes. Unique characters in a non linear plot. If you liked how steins;gate's plot unfolded, this may be for you. See also: Durarara!
  • Cross Game - Slice of life-esque take on sports manga. As someone not particularly fond of baseball, I still consider this one of the best sports manga out there. May appeal more to slice of life/romance fans. See also: Anything by king of koshien, Adachi Mitsuru
  • Shinigamisama ni Saigo no Onegai wo - One of the best protagonists hands down. Psychological and mystery fans will dig this one. See also: Liar Game, Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, Monster, (Kaiji? lol), Death Note
  • Genshiken - Otakus unite! slice of life about otakus what more do you need? See also: NHK ni Youkoso!, Working!
  • Cloth Road - Art and plot, art and plot, all you need to know is art and plot. Now go read it.
  • Pumpkin Scissors (anime/manga) - Best military themed manga to my knowledge. As an avid fan of valkyria chronicles, I love this setting. Interesting spin is that it centers on a war relief unit during the precarious peace time in the aftermath of a world war.
  • Bakemonogatari (Anime) - hmm You either love it or hate it. Great characters that interact through some clever writing. Also notable for stylish animation and supernatural elements. Ecchi warning
  • Hayate the Combat Butler! - How can you not love this cute little comedy? And if you stick through to 100 chapters or so you actually get PLOT. Really fun manga. Harem warning, but who's complaining
  • Zettai Karen Children - One of the strongest action shonen mangas currently. The plot is MUCH deeper then it initially seems, give it time. Explores some great ethical issues dealing with war and power.
  • NHK Ni Youkoso! - Wow, just wow. How to categorize this one? Probably most easily said to be a romance, but if anything, I would call it a story of redemption.
  • Usagi Drop - Cute slice of life about 25 chapters long. Centers about a man and the young girl he adopts. Parenting has never been so interesting. this is a seinen slice of life and should not be confused with the josei drama crap that serves as usagi drop's "season two."
  • One Piece - well, no explaining here
  • Full Metal Alchemist - I sure HOPE i don't have to explain here. This is a must read. Her new manga, Silver Spoon is also great, though pretty different genre
  • Steins;Gate - An amazing plot that may start out slow for some. Time travel and thriller/mystery themes. At the very least watch to episode 3 before dropping, because this is one is really special. Hand's down best of 2012
  • Mysterious Girlfriend X - Totally unique if not odd romance/slice of life. May not be for everyone, but it does a lot of things right (no stupid drama, interesting characters), I would recommend the manga slightly more. The anime creates a whimsical atmosphere that I loved because it fit so well, but the fanservice was distracting. It was never about the fanservice. watch bakemonogatari/nisemonogatari for fanservice.
  • Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - the ever interesting idea of falling in love with a ghost. cute romance with some dark undertones
  • The World God Only Knows - Shonen harem romance done right. Somehow manages from being cliche. Very funny, very cute
  • Nisekoi - Fantastic art from the author of Double Arts (RIP). Starts out with pacing, but kinda degrades into a more episodic generic romance. Still one of the best ones out there and a high recommend for any fans of the genre
  • Sengoku Youko - another must read from the author of Hoshi no Samidare! Youkai themed (one of my favorite genres) with some great themes of power and humanity. Read it, read it, read it!
  • Liar Game - the better death note haha. Its all about outsmarting your opponent and high stakes games.
  • Monster - a classic by the author of 20th century boys. Psychological, seinen, thriller. A plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat flipping the pages as fast as you can.
