It's good to see some of you are still active.

It's quite insensitive, casually offensive banter then. Just say you dislike them and keep it at that instead of going out of your way to call them less than dirt or crap.

Easy, bud. It's how these folks poke fun at each other. Just ignore'em if you don't like it. They usually mean nothing by it.

To be honest, the majority of us here are already out of university and are primarily working. It's not like when everyone had been in high school and college when there was a lot of free time.

I'll be up for it if you decide to go through with it. I've been itching to write a kid hero.

It's complex, isn't it? He's full of contradictions and is bit of a hypocrite, but I think he clings to the extremes because I think it's his only way to maintain some semblance of function. He's not exactly sane.

As for the cloning, you wouldn't have to worry. I'm just going to make him be the comic relief for the majority of the time.

You should've been here when Blades of Fealty was still active. It was totally fun and I tried to personalize it for every character.

If we're talking about grizzled veterans, look no further than me. I was the one that got this entire board rolling to begin with, after all.

Anyway, I'm a little confused on how to go about creating a character. Do we create our own traits or something?

I think I'll join.

ÆSCESNE

Act I: Fate

He did as etiquette dictated and took the offered hand of Sir Bryland Reach. As the talking flowed between Ostermarker and Reach, he had the luxury of listening without the need to offer anything. This brief respite allowed Æscesne the chance to look over the older man that rudely invited himself to the conversation.

However, he soon halted his investigation upon hearing Reach’s stance on humanities and culture. The ambitious tactician did not share such disparaging sentiment.

“Let me begin with the easiest observation,” Æscesne suddenly stated, attempting to draw the attention of the two men. He turned to Reach and nodded towards the man’s right leg. “You walk with slight limp on that leg. Hardly noticeable by most, but easily noticed enough by those with keen eyes. In order to mask that you do have a limp, you tend to favor leaning on it anyway to deceive those that actually care to look.”

He walked forward, plucking a strand of long hair from the knight’s shoulder. “Prior to engaging us in conversation, you were with a woman. You probably didn’t engage in coitus, but you did enjoy the kisses nevertheless. There are stains of lipstick smudged on your neck that you were careful in wiping away and also your own perfume is mixed up with one of the feminine variety. It could easily be a maid out to have a rich nobleman for a lover, but, no, that isn’t the case. It’s a noblewoman to be sure considering how rare a fragrance the perfume is, married too if I have to guess. The coloring of the lipstick is too bold for a young virgin girl out with her parents.”

He smirked at Reach, taking a step back. “I could continue on, but I’d rather not address the uncomfortable way you try to scratch at your crotch when you believe someone isn’t looking. You’re a fine swordsman to be sure and I wouldn’t want to be pierced here because I affronted you in some way. In any case, I believe my point is made clear.

“Knowledge is quite valuable in a lot of wars, Sir Reach. Without knowledge, you would have no means to earn money or to defend it from getting it stolen. A combination of both knowledge and things that can be touched by fingertips gives ordinary men such as you and I power. Perhaps the secrets of the dead may elude others, but it itself isn’t intrinsically worthless. Scholars such as Lowell Ostermarker look into these things to gleam its wealth, whether it is monetary or otherwise.”

Æscesne bowed politely. “I’m Æscesne, a wandering tactician. Forgive me for any insult I made by my little demonstration.”

Yeah, go for it Liar. Though, I'm not sure what sort of physical or mental weaknesses you hope to uncover and use to your advantage. =O

The details I'm more keen on having is being able to show the man that he can deduce a lot of things about Bryland. For example, using a Sherlock Scan will enable my character to know if Bryland has a lover, an old injury, what he had for breakfast, etc, based on visual cues on his person. My character is more or less wants to show him that knowledge is power and because he rubbed him the wrong way.

Good luck. You'll still need supporters, and many of them. With the individualism that pervades today's society you're in or a long and wearisome road. (Anti-vaccine people are a good example of that.)

Psh, my parents tell me to do what I love and after roleplaying with all you folks, the thing I love is to be an ambitious schemer.
