Frisk

The road was as long as the walk was hard. Very. But Frisk would not be deterred. Step after grueling step he marched beside his new drinking friend, and finally, eventually, they burst out into the harsh light of day. Frisk had done it. He had made it out of the tavern. One small victory for a young goblin, but a giant leap for all goblin-kind. He felt sure people would be talking of this day for all time. The time that Frisk and his new friend had faced the door courageously and stepped outside. The door of courage they would call it. Frisk was mightily proud of himself as he stood there swaying slightly in the doorway. And then he realized his mission was not yet complete.

The friendly older goblin led him around the side of the bar, towards the back of the building. Carefully, so as not to incur any drunken wrath, Frisk and the older goblin wove their way through the minefield of the poor lost souls who had failed in the very same mission Frisk was now attempting. This was risky. Instinctively Frisk knew that if he fell now he wouldn't get back up. He would join these poor fellows in their restless slumber, waiting to snap out at anyone who disturbed them too much. This was the time for stealth.

The task to be quiet proved to be an even trickier task than expected. Still, Frisk was drunk and confident in his abilities. He was also being much louder than he thought as they clambered drunkenly over the rattling bone fence. Luckily those poor fallen souls were also drunk. The few that brought themselves to peer angrily at Frisk lost their will to murder him when they saw how much effort that fence looked like it would take to climb.

Having made it through the tavern door of courage, past the field of lost souls, and over the fence of the fallen, Frisk felt confident in his future, proud of his achievements, and eager to continue on his journey. Until he turned around and saw... them... The Stairs of Neverendingstairiness. With a grimace and a nod at the older goblin, Frisk and his new friend began to tackle the new challenge before them. They walked ever onwards and ever upwards. To where, Frisk didn't know, but he knew one thing in his gut. One thing that was true. The adventure must continue.

And now we are going on a drunken road trip! This feels like the start of a goblin based re-imagining of the hangover movies.

Frisk

Aww, everyone in this game was on a real losing streak! That was a shame. Frisk still hadn't tasted victory. On the other hand that meant Frisk got to have more of the tasty drink that was most definitely magical. He gulped on down a hefty mouthful, enjoying it even more than the first time. The effects of the drink was definitely settling in now. He felt a little... Wibbly. Wibbly, or Wobbly. Maybe even Wobblibbly. It was fun. He really liked this drink that the elder goblin had introduced him to. And the game that made him drink this drink was pretty alright in Frisks books too.

Setting the mug back down and sliding the coin back over Frisk payed a lot of attention as the older goblin asked Frisk if he wanted to meet the person who made the drink. Was Frisk interested in meeting the very special person, who made this special and magic drink? Did he want to visit a secret and special place to have this meeting? You know he did. "Yeah!" He said excitedly, grabbing The Rock and his rabbit skin bag full of meat. He sat there eagerly, his feet tippity-tapping on the crossbar of his bar stool, waiting to follow the mysterious goblins lead.

Frisk

Frisk was feeling slightly odd. Not in a bad way, just different. He was feeling warm, fuzzy and quietly confident that he was definitely going to win this game. The strange, magical effects of whatever this drink was had made him more lucky, he could feel it in his finger tips as he picked up the coin. A gentle buzz of good luck humming throughout his entire body. He flipped the coin into the air and happily called, "Crossbones!" again. He caught the coin with little trouble and slapped it down on the counter with a satisfying 'tink' noise. Would his lucky feeling prove right? He pulled back his hand quickly, eager to find out.

Frisk

Oh no! Frisk lost!

He thought he'd be more upset by this, but even losing the coin flip game had an element of fun to it. That was what made the game fun in the first place right? The fact that you could lose. It made him want to play more, and get a taste of sweet, sweet, victory. Plus the fact that his 'punishment' for losing was a brand new flavour of drink helped him not feel too sad. This game was win-win.

Frisk smiled widely as the nice older goblin slid him a mug. It had a strong, unfamiliar scent to it. That was always exciting. Frisk brought the liquid to his lips, savouring the first sip of a new drink. At first taste it was very bitter, something that would put off many other, inferior, goblins. But even bitterness was a fun experience for Frisk, the Mighty Devourer of Tastes. He pushed on through and gulped the drink down, enjoying the new experience.

Frisk

Frisk had never seen a coin before, he didn't know what they were for, but they were quite nice and shiny. He liked how the coin caught what shreds of light existed in the dimly lit bar and glittered through the air as it spun. It made him giggle. The goblin caught his coin and slapped it down underneath his hand. He had picked Skulls. When he moved his hand away it turned out he had picked correctly. Frisk eyes and mouth were as wide with glee as the width of The Rock's knowledge, and that's wide. This game was Fun! Capital 'F' Fun! And now it was his go!

Frisk picked up the same coin the other goblin had flipped. He took it up with a great deal of care, he didn't want to hurt it. After giving it a quick feel and a sniff, and finding that it didn't really smell of much more than the inside of a pouch, Frisk declared the coin strong enough for flipping, and so he tossed the coin into the air. "Crossbones!" He yelled happily. The other goblin had taken Skulls already, and he didn't want to ruin the game by picking the same one. Barely managing to catch the coin as it came down Frisk copied the older goblin's lead and slapped it down on the bar, his hand covering it. This was exciting. An energetic noise escaped his mouth without his permission. Frisk decided he really liked games. Slowly he began to pull back his hand and reveal the coin.

Frisk

This game was so easy even Frisk could play it. Maybe he'd play the game with The Rock one day, you know, if he could learn to flip a coin. Or if he could even get his hands a coin. Whatever a coin was. "Yeah! Easy!" Frisk yelled enthusiastically, waiting for the friendly, knifey, stabby, goblin man to flip the coin. "Let's go time!"

Frisk

Frisk watched with a small amount of curiosity as the older goblin had happily wandered over to a sleeping goblin. He watched with more curiosity as the goblin proceeded to murder the second goblin. He did the murder with stabbings. Many stabbings. It was a good idea, Frisk thought, to do many stabbings. And that knife was good at stabbing things. He wanted one like that. One that was good for stabbings.

He got even more curious, and not to mention more than a little excited, when the goblin grabbed his victims food and began bringing it back over towards Frisk. His face lit up with delight as he saw the food placed down in front of him. "Food!" He shouted to nobody but himself and began to tuck in. It was mostly new tastes! Food he hadn't tried before. And it was old and some of it was even mouldy! That was new! It wasn't so bad! He ploughed on through the food and forgot about the nice goblin with the knife until he spoke again. But when he did, and he wanted to play a game, Frisk was in a happy mood. He'd eaten some food, some of it was brand new food tastes too, so when the goblin asked him to play a game, Frisk smiled widely. "Yeah! Game! What game you play?" He asked loudly.

Frisk

Frisk felt the point of a needle sharp dagger poking him in the side. That wasn't fun. But the goblin holding the dagger revealed his plan soon enough. His masterplan. He wanted a story. A story from Frisk. And he was so hungry for this story that he had pulled a weapon on Frisk. Well, at first, Frisk was angry. Furious even. He was going to rip this goblin's jaw off and feed it to him, because that was worse that being stabbed. Much worse. And that made it a worthy payback. It was only when The Rock, sat upon the bar, gave him a meaningful look, that he realized what was really going on. This fine goblin gentleman had seen greatness in Frisk. He knew that Frisk had the potential to do... something. Something story-based maybe. He saw that Frisk had a story deep within. And so Frisk reached deep. Right into the very core of his being. And he began to tell a story, the story of his battle with the Goblin Chief Fluffy.

"I remember it like it was yesterday." Frisk said wistfully. "I was one day old and hungry for food. I was looking around, tasting what things taste like. My strong teacher, The Rock," He gestured to the rock he had placed on the counter before him. "Had taught me that I needed to get bigger and stronger in order to eat bigger and better things. I was thinking thoughts about this when an old goblin turned up in the home-place that we were in. It was Chief Fluffy. He looked old and weak enough to eat, which made me want to know if Goblins had taste. A secret taste that they were all hiding from me. I had to know.
So I bit the him on the shin.

"Our battle raged on for whole seconds as he stamped and jiggled his feet faster than anything I've ever seen. I flew off into the air and landed on my face a little bit away from him. I lost. But I knew what I wanted to knew. Goblins do have a secret taste they were hiding from me. So everything else must have has a secret taste too! And I need to know what tastes them tastes are. I'll eat them all and get stronger and bigger. Then when I'm all that bigger and stronger, I'll go back and eat old Chief Fluffy, because he's the strongest I've met and his legs are fast and probably he is tasty."

There was a final chunk of the story that Frisk just wasn't getting. Something to wrap the whole story up in a nice, pretty, red bow. Something good. He didn't know what it was. But the story didn't feel like it had ended all that well. He quickly decided he didn't care. The story had crept out from a secret place and let him tell it, but he knew it had disappeared back to where ever that place was. He didn't get any more of it. It had returned to the mystery place that was full of stories and tales, songs and chants, maybe even some rhymes and dirty limericks. For a brief moment Frisk had been allowed a glimpse of such wonders, but no more. Perhaps he would try and tell more stories on day. He quite enjoyed it. Had he found a second passion in life? Probably. But nothing topped food. He didn't know if the story was good enough for the other goblin. Maybe he should attack him? Nah. The best bet, in Frisk's mind, was to simply look at the goblin seriously, like his story had been the best thing ever. Maybe the other guy would believe it if Frisk could make himself believe it hard enough.
