I think that's why we see a lot of bad anime drawings, It's like you skip understanding fundamentals and try to line draw. Which I think is something only accomplished artists with a good understanding of proportions/human faces can pull off well. Its like skipping several steps in learning how to draw.

I keep telling some of my friends this but they keep insisting to draw anime straight away. No one wants to take it slow and learn.

In the meantime, i'm still working on my painting skills but it's still less stressful than drawing and coloring lineart. ;_;

Then that would mean you are more painter than illustrator. You are correct in saying there are some painters that paint without drawing first. Several impressionist painters did paint without a charcoal or graphite illustration to begin. Among the figurative and neo classical artists, there were some who did paint this way but were rare. If you continue down this path you would count among them rare figurative painters who don't begin with guide illustrations.

lol same, i've been trying to focus a bit more on painting (my painting game is extremely weak) and i've feel like i've been learning a lot more from painting (with or without guidelines).

lol I wouldn't call it talent, more like a month of trying to form shapes into land looking things.

A majority of know-how was from this and 1 video by the same person.

But of course, you could always watch me screw up a bunch while painting lol, like this one xD

Been awhile since I've seen your work. Rendering is great, though the nose is a bit odd for the angle of the face.

Yea it's one of those things that look great at first and then I come back 2 days later and notice a million errors and end up hating it and want to fix as much as possible.

Welp, it was a timed paint. Gotta practice more on those.
