I think this is the right place to make this announcement since almost everyone he loved frequents here. A special shout-out to Naifu, X & Maia.

I wish to announce that the member that was the original owner of this Handle has passed on. He suffered a burst vein and collapsed in his study. Was rushed to the hospital but was declared 'brought dead', the reason being brain hemorrhage. I apologize for any unsettled feuds he may have had and am thankful for all the love he has received from this forum that led to his emotional healing.

I'm thankful at least a family member of his were kind enough to speak through his account to let us know what happened. It would've been even more terrible had he just disappeared all of a sudden, never to be seen again, without knowing anything. But Ugh, I agree, RPing just wouldn't be the same without him. It's always been Me, DR, Joker, Naifu, Fay and various others in practically every RP. His mark was everywhere in the RP forum. It was fun RPing with his characters. =(

He very much became the heart and soul of this little part of Batoto, pushing us all to write better and dream bigger. And above all, I think he just wanted us all to have fun doing what we love.

Thanks for the love, if I could ask a favor. Do you guys know the member with the Handle name Naifu? I couldn't find him here. If you could, please inform him about DR. He was very fond of his skill and often talked about it. He was also planning a surprise visit in the Caribbean to possibly meet up with him in January, so I feel he should know of this all. He said Naifu was his best friend on these forums along with X. I'm sure I have found one of the two.

Also, Faye, Captain, Joker, Maia & Ita - I have heard about these members as well.

My skills in poetry are elementary, I just have a penchant for rhyming and thus like to spit my mind out in rhymes. It was hard for me to grasp the metaphors that Emerald listed as his inspiration, maybe because I'm a non-native speaker and not aware of the usual lingo. Neither am I much acquainted to writers like Naifu. I just like Rudyard Kipling's and Henley's Invictus thus sometimes my pieces have that sense of narcissism or stoicism in them.

As for the next challenge, give me a few days. i'll think of something interesting.

Even if we go by the image you shared, A group of barely armed men won't try to take down an Amur Tiger. But that's what keeps this a fantasy, I think.

The ashen one's life was in danger, his valiance had put him straight in harms way as the one he was protecting used his presence to save herself or atleast it looked like that to Dar. She took out the bloody horn that she had swapped with Brixx earlier and decided that it was time to jump into melee, the beast was hardly being affected from her bunny killer stones.

With a yell she jumped at the Wolverine, aiming to pierce his neck so that it won't bite on Brixx, the ashen one had even thrown away his bag of herbs that they had so generously used to enjoy the meat together. She won't be ungrateful and let him die. Her plan was to climb up on the four-legged monster and go stabby-stab on him till it moved no longer.

yup you are on the right path!

So does that mean we now gain 2 skill slots for being level 50? And to fill those slots in it'll cost 3 SP per? Or is it 3 SP to unlock another skill slot outside the every 25 levels unlock? I just want to confirm whether I understand it correctly.

Well Level 50 enables you to have 5 Skills but f you for some reason want to have 6 skills, then for the additional slot you have to spend 3 SP from your budget to unlock.

As I understand it, you now have the capacity to have two more skill slots at level 50, but it costs three points to assign a skill into either one of those slots.

No, you can assign points freely to the new skills that you have unlocked on your own on the onset of being a level 50. 

Out of curiosity, what happened to the unique skills you gave out to people who reached level 10? IIRC, both Faye and Ziku were not assigned those when we reached lv 10 and picked our class.

And, does that unique skill counts towards that new skill slots?

I assigned Unique traits to everyone. Ziku got his trait but yours is pending as I was unsure of the class functionality at that time and you were burdened with too much work for me to bother you. But expect something soon.

So we'll be buying or earning as rewards better swords,etc. that instead of stats, will be better because they give a +1 to your blocking skill and stuff. Nice. Easy and effective.

 

As to the Skill Points, does it cost more to make a new skill. I vaguely remember that maybe being a thing. Like if I wanted Arenthiel to get good at, let's say, Climbing, for example, would that cost multiple skill points to learn the skill?

Well Every 25 Levels you unlock a skill slot. Whether you fill it or not is on you. If you need to make an additional skill than that you need to spend 3 SP to unlock it. Sometimes, the weapons & armor will have random skill buffs which are from the auxillary set of skills. They'll hone your standard chosen skills for specific situations. This way you don't need to invest into a sub-skill, you just equip an item and get things done, much like a game.

Well, if you guys really want to continue this, then I'd be willing to do that.

I was just thinking that since this and Goblins are very similar, that I'd roll some of the ideas for this into that. Of course, they aren't exactly the same. This story is from the pov of the hero, while in Goblins you're basically encouraged to be the villains. X is evil no matter the setting. But they both have dungeons, world exploration, ect.

Should we keep this going, passed the boss fight?

I'm fine with both. Since I'm aiming to be an Orc in that RP and an already one in this xP

*sigh* I had a feeling that poetry was not my forte ... Guess that's what happens when you don't write any for 3 years. I'll stick to novels then. 

 

Also, since the challenge is drawing to a close, should we each explain the meaning behind our respective poems? 'Cause I think that will help in providing advice to those of us who aren't as skilled in poetic art.

Personally, I got Viscoun to participate in our little fun is all the gift I need. Good to have you with us, mate.

As for what I understood from the challenge, I'll choose Viscoun's piece as my favorite. Emerald's piece seemed a bit wayward and Naifu's had me excited but personally had too many concurrent themes going.

@Naifu: Is this the final battle for this chapter before Tower climb or are you planning to cut the story short? I got this vibe from your earlier reply to Faye that you aren't that invested in this one now. Everything alright?

Dar watched as Brixx the Handsome went in charging without a care in the world, she just couldn't help but marvel at his courageousness. The ashen one was certainly ballsy. He slid under the giant wolverine as it tried to stomp on him much like the giant rabbit that they had killed before. As his large horn impaled the front paw, two more goblins came charging from the foliage on the other side. 

She recognized the masked one as the wimpy one from earlier, seeing how he flung himself on the hunter's backleg made Dar change her opinion of him. Certainly, she can't be left behind by every goblin of her age. First Brixx, then Frisk and now the masked one.

She gripped onto the bloodied rock that she had used to finish off the rabbit and flung it with all her might towards the open jaws of the wolverine. She noticed that the goblin that was originally the target was suspiciously holding back, but she ignored it. If they managed to survive, it would mean less meat for her. After all the strong had the right to eat first, atleast that's the understanding between Brixx the Handsome and herself.

She hoped that Brixx would survive.

I've been missing some of the system updates it seems

And my idea is for her to rely mostly on speed and finesse, while not abandoning the other stats (except maybe for magic).

Alas, speed is still her most prominent stats in my vision

Well the Emphasis system I have implemented is much like the Bleach Captain Stat Sheet that was introduced a long time ago by Kubo. So basically, peeps have a Balanced build with their Emphasis points being their stronger attributes. 

So for example in case of PvP (if it happens) A Speed Paladin will attack first but a Strength/Power Paladin will hit harder. Like Uther vs Arthras. Arthras may wound Uther up a bit but if he hits, he hits hard!!!

Also, your chosen class also alters your stat sheet. Thus, Joker's Hunter will probably own most Paladins upto +5 Levels than him in Jungle/Sneaky/Range but if someone nears him, he'll suffer more than say Muninn's Swordsman.
