In Topic: What should I focus on more - A question about page editing

31 May 2016 - 03:48 PM

Thank you all for the advice. Yes I do want to keep the art in the same style, I really like how the digital line art looks overlaying my original art, so I am doing that moving forward, it just looks smoother and when looking at it without the screens and other things taking up the space, they just appeal to me more. So I am going to make the art fit in either way, I was just wondering when to do so. I'll probably work on both at the same time, mainly focusing on putting chapter 2 out there, while fixing up chapter 1 when I get in some slumps. You all have given me some great advice, I haven't been doing this long, and quite frankly, the feedback was very very well needed.

I agree with Doonge, as a fellow (hobbyist) mangaka myself, I would just continue creating new chapters. It'll help you improve much faster than always trying to fix little mistakes.

I would agree with you if I was dealing with little mistakes here and there, but I am correcting a HUGE mistake on my part that ruined the quality, and I am unable to rescan and redo some of the original pages.

I have to fix them. To give you an example, the two links below are the same page, one is the original with the quality messed up, the second is with the fixes I am doing. Take a look at the change and let me know if it's worth fixing the first chapter like I am doing is necessary, or if you keep your opinion and work on the second chapter and go back to fix the first later.

In Topic: Why does Batoto have so much more translated yaoi series compared to yuri ser...

22 May 2016 - 04:01 AM

I believe the statement was more about the fact that there is more yaoi in general than yuri, but especially on this site, if not in general to scan sites. I think that the point that Alles said is true, fujoshi is a larger genre and has a larger fan base in Japan, than yuri does.

While yuri does seem to be getting larger, It hasn't been able to keep up with fujoshi. Now there are some other sites that try and specialize in mainly yuri scans (dunno if I can name names, but I can pm with the site if it's not allowed to say another scan site on this one), but it's the fact that yuri just isn't being made as much as yaoi, I wish that wasn't the case, being a yuri fan myself.

In time both will probably become less and less of a niche genre, and be more accepted as just "romance" or another subset of that larger umbrella
