I really don't have a favorite genre or style of manga. I guess the only thing that's a must for me to enjoy something is humor. I can't take melodrama played straight-- I am that person in the back of the theater during a teen romance giggling at all the angst.
5 of my favorite manga right now are (in no particular order except the first)
Angel Densetsu, Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai, Uchuu Kyoudai, Kuragehime, and Takane to Hana. [Oops, and Horimiya, make it 6 of my favorites right now.]
What I hate most besides melodrama is romanticizing MCs being mean to love interests. It sometimes seems like half the shoujo I read pull that stunt. Oh and also, not a fan of harems when the MC leads everyone on. Clueless MCs are OK (within reason!), and so are straightforward ones, but unfortunately most harem protags aren't good people.
