This is just a random idea I've had but, notice how Chitoge's key is the smallest one?
Maybe there are multiple locks, and the first lock is opened by the girls furthest away, while the last is opened by the promise girl.
Also unofficial topic: I really hope Chitoge isn't the promise girl, like really isn't. If Raku picks her (he most likely will, but we dunno how long this is gonna drag on), then I will be more satisfied with a "defying destiny" story than a "fated with red string story."
Chitoge's asking questions like "What do I do if I'm not?" And I can't help but think: What if you ARE the promised girl? Would you doubt his intentions because you feel like he's doing it out of a sense of obligation to you?

it could always be one of those multi-key locks where if they each use their key's to open the lock it'll open at the promised time... i.e lets say chitoge uses her key first it unlocks one mechanism, then onodera uses her key it unlocks another mechanism until all the girls use their key's the lock will finally unlock and open up if you get what i'm saying :L)

I agree with you, about the promise girl. I prefer that it's not Chitoge too and i think it's right that.

Nah, they're all the promise girl.
Ichijou as a child was really intelligent and realised his future self would be out of luck with the ladies, so he set him up with multiple girls, but because he was just a child he wasn't very wise and didn't think it through enough which is why all 3 showed up at roughly the same time.
This theory is because the outline of the keys appears to be the same, ignoring the little shape in the centre, and I have yet to find a key where the centre makes a difference in what it opens.

He should definitely get all the girls although so far he's only shown feelings for Chitoge and Onodera so I don't see the police peoples daughter or Chitoge's bodyguard included in this harem.
