Basically some info. for those who care, my mini rant about genetics and its use in this manga. If anyone has new info. to share/ knows more than I do/ can explain better, feel free to correct me. New info. is always welcome and this is just from my understanding of genetics.

Ch. 7 pg. 16 "they found an interesting gene in her body" It would probably be more accurate to say "allele" than gene. Generally when stated that someone found that they have the gene for some disease, it doesn't mean that they have an extra gene (all people have that gene location), instead they mean that they have the allele (a varient of a gene) that can cause that disease at the location of that gene. (ex: I have the gene for Huntington's disease, so does everyone else, but I have two normal alleles so I don't have Huntington's disease)
Ch. 7 pg 19 "There's a gene that constantly evolves" I would really like to know what gene this is...the only way for genes or alleles to "change" as far as I know in adult cells is through mutations. You can change the expression of genes through epigenetics which is greatly influenced by your environment (DNA methylation, histone acetylation, Tf's and all that)
"trying to stave off death and ageing" : This implies that evolution is working towards a specific goal like "the perfect organism" which, to my understanding, it is not. Also, idividuals don't evolve alleles they carry may be selected for or against, but individuals don't evolve populations (a group of individuals of the same species in the same place at the same time) do. Is there a cell specifically customized to stave off death and ageing (telomerase reference)?
"and you inherited it" what they got right. You can inherit genes :)
Ch. 8 pg. 17 "the level of the gene in a person's cells directly effects its influence" Wait...what? Do they mean the level of expression of the gene??? More enhancer sights? I'm confused.

There now that mini rant is posted, I can keep reading.

Please note that I do realize that this is a supernatural genre and would have been totally satisfied if they said "magic" was the answer. Lolz. My brother always gets on me for that "wait, you have a problem with the cannon's trajectory but not with the people flying? You do see the people flying right?" I guess what I'm saying is that if you're going to do fantasy make it a realistic fantasy. That being said, I did quite enjoy this manga after getting over the problems above.
