Errr, what just happened? Who, what, where, why? I'm confused...

the ending took place a few years in the future (around a decade or so, I think)
Final chapter is a story about Triela's daughter (from the eggs Hilshire extracted) living a normal life.

A life that the cyborgs couldn't have in their time

From the hints, I think all the cyborgs have gone past their lifetime and died (petrushka is hinted to die from her leukemia, rico's photo is shown like a deceased family's photo in Jean's office room, SWA was disbanded soon after the capture of Giocomo, so there will be no more tech support for the cyborgs anyway)

I suppose it's just to say that the cyborg's life is not just a waste, as new life was born and preserved because of them, and the "hope" will always be there

It's confusing really, I'm not so sure what I am talking about now :/

Henrietta and Jose: Henrietta shot Jose just like the legend of Orion, Artemis killed her lover accidentally. After that, to fulfill their wishes (Die by each other's hand) they double suicided. I think they died peacefully

 

Triela and Hillshire: She had been hit and lost an arm and a leg in the beginning of the final battle with Giacomo, he came for her and they died together when fought with Giocomo soldiers. In the final chapter, as Victor Harttman's (Hillshire) will, prosecutor used Triela's egg and Speranza (means "Hope") was born and lived a normal life. I actually think Hillshire is not her father that made me sad. Btw Triela is my favorite female character

 

Rico and Jean: They came back alive after the final battle with Giacomo, Jean recovered and became a chief of an agency (I don't know its name), Rico has gone past her lifetime and passed away.

 

Petrushka and Sandro: I don't really know if she actually loved Sandro or just because of the effect of conditioning, when she woke up after memory's block had been removed, the one said: "I love you" is Sandro and she did not reply. I think she would die because of leukemia. That's sad, life's always sad. Btw Sandro is my favorite male character.

 

The rest: The agency had been disavowed, I think all of remain cyborgs would live until the end of their lifetime. The cyborg tech was used for medical purposes, not for creating super soldiers that's great!

 

P/s: What kind of people used an 50 caliber rifle to shoot at a child??? I can't believe that. BTW in the end, all cyborgs lived a tough life, I have many feeling for this manga, however, sad is a biggest one, it's just too sad. Riposa in pace!
