Before you Proceed , MAke Sure that The File[s] you are uploading is Valid! This is Very IMPORTANT!

Several Things to Check For:

  • We ONLY accept .Rar & .Zip type files.
  • Batoto will accept the following image types:
    • .jpeg (aka .jpg)
    • .gif
    • .png
    • .apng (It is highly preferable that you name the animated png as .apng, not .png. Otherwise, we may treat it as non-animated png)
    • .tiff
    • .svg
will accept the following** audio types**: (example)
    • .mp3
    • .ogg
Note:** Audio files should ONLY be added when it's part of the comic (such as background music for a Korean webtoon inserted by the author/artist). Nothing else. Do not add unrelated music files. If you do, they will be removed, and you will be warned, then banned on repeated offenses.
  • No passwords to any files.
  • Your .rar/.zip file names [including images' names] should only contain Latin Alphabet A-Z, No Accents on letter. No fancy charas/symbols. To check if ur file/image names are vaild, you can use this tool.  Strongly recommend keep the names simple(Ex: image names to be only #  [ex:01.jpg,02.jpg..etc] / Archive File name: Series name Chap#)

If you are sure everything is good to go, you can proceed to the following steps.

Step 1. Go to add chapter. The button to add chapter is present on the front page and at the page of each comic once you've logged in.

Step 2. Fill in the form! If you've clicked the button from a comic page, the comic field should already be filled for you.
As I'm a strong believer of learning by example, the attached are two examples of uploads.
Note, flash player is required to upload your chapters directly.
Attached File  example1.jpg   340.55KB   1485 downloads Attached File  example2.jpg   315.17KB   1563 downloads  <---click the image(s) to view the original size.

  • Please read the second post regarding "adding comic/group ,Sort Order, Archiving Uploads,Comic Status." following after this post.  It is highly recommended/Important.

Step 3. Save and review! Click "Go back to Comic Page" to see your upload.
All of your own submission will appear on the front page and the comic page, unless you have check the "archive" box.

Attached File  example3.jpg   28.75KB   872 downloads

Step 4. Please check to see if all your uploads are sorted correctly.Make sure that the vol/chp and group credits are correct.

Also make sure that the uploads have no errors and is viewable.

Messed something up? Edit  button are available for you after you've added them.

You can go back and EDIT** any mistake you made in your upload, by clicking the fualbm.jpg .

**note that EDIT means any mistakes done on the upload page, aside from file upload.

once you have upload the chap, you can not replace/edit the file you alrdy uploaded. Any img pages that need to be edit/

or resort must be done so before uploadin it. If there is any mistakes in your file, you will need to re-upload your file on

a new "add chapter" page, then request any of the old file/upload to be deleted (using the following steps).

If you need to delete any chapter:

  • 1) Change the title to "Delete
  • 2) Unapprove your upload (click the cross.png next to the chapter you want to delete - If you don't see the cross.png it means your upload has not been approved yet. step 1) is enough in this case)

- Only the Uploader may edit their uploads. If you aren't the uploader, you can't edit it

Please wait patiently for your uploads to be deleted or approved. As mods aren't always available on-site,

your uploads may take a while to be approved/deleted.

Please note that, currently, moderators and admins DO NOT have the ability to do in-place replacement of chapters.
The only remedy for a bad upload is
unapproval/deletion of the old chapter and to re-upload it.

Note to Scanlators: =To Be Safe=
Scanlators should only paste an link to the comic page NOT the chapter page of the comic serie (if you are posting an link to the release

in ur group site.). In case we need to re-upload the chapter, the old upload link wont work. It will only show an error in that case.

===More Stuffs to Note==

1. Instructions to Adding New Comics / New Scanlation groups:

Adding New Comics:

Spoiler

Adding New Groups:
Spoiler

2. There is an Category section at the very top when you add new comic on the "Adding Comic" page. It is set by default to ScanlationUsually you don't touch the Category section, for most of your uploads will come from Scanlation groups. But if you are uploading a self-published work (either comics you created or from a self-published author), you have to change the category to "Self published". Just click the drop-down menu to change it.

3. The Archive feature pushes the comic upload to the very end of the site, so it won't appear on the front page. You should use this if you are uploading a lot of old* chapters/comics. Ideally, you should archive everything but the last few chapters (about 2 or 3)  or perhaps not first few chapters. This way, people can see that a new comic/chapters have been added to Batoto but the front page won't be spammed with a hundred comic releases

*old means, not previously on Batoto in this case.

4. Volume Number: DON'T ADD LEADING ZEROES!

Bad Examples: 01 through 09

Good Examples: 1 through 9

By adding an 0 in front of an volume number, the system will think it is Vol 0 instead of Vol 1!
[Not the case anymore, but please still follow this as guideline for aesthetical reasons)

5. Sort order:  The Sort number can be now seen by hovering your mouse over any chap's title. It will be shown on the right after the vertical bar line.

Image of it:

Spoiler

Intro: Since volumes and chapters sometimes are weird (i.e., chapter 3a, 3b, or Omakes, etc.), the comics are NOT sorted by the volume/chapter number. They are sorted by a special "sort number".

  • The Default Rules: By default, if you leave the "sort order" field blank, then:

A) if there is no volume listed, the sort number is equivalent to the chapter number;
B) if there is a volume number, the sort number is determined by the following formula:

                                                                   s = 1000v + c

where s is the sort number, v is the volume number, and c is the chapter number.

Typically you should leave the sort order blank in the uploader and just let the default formulas work.

They are the default rules because they work well under the typical situation.

Decimals: Batoto allows decimals in the sort order, so you can use 15.5 or even 25.01

When To Manually Sort: Circumstances such as an omake chapter or chapters 17a and 17b that do not have clear numerical values need the uploader to manually type in a sort number.

Another reason to manually sort is if there are a mix of volume and non-volume uploads.
For example, if Volume 12, Chapter 100 of Comic X is already on Batoto,it will have a sort order of 12100 by default. If you want to upload chapter 150 and don't know the volume number, then you must manually set the sort order, probably to 12150. This is because chapter 150 without a volume will default to a sort order of 150. This is less than 12100, and so, Batoto will list vol 0 chp 150 BEFORE vol 12 chp 100.

Please make sure all your uploads is consistent with the other groups' sort order for the chap[s].

6. Status of Manga/Comic: The status of all or any comic regards only to the english scanlation group[s]' releases.

So even if any other language aside from english scanlation finish the comic/manga series, it will still be consider on-going.

  • The status of manga/comic [here at batoto] doesnt applies/regard to its original raws.

Video version by Hados9

NOTE: You usually do NOT need to touch "sort order" (see above post). In the video example, if you had left "sort order" blank, 2019 would have automatically been filled in.

i was bored so if you want you can use this for the members of the site to teach them how to upload

(Merged from Grumpy's original thread)

All the error messages given by the uploader is listed here. A description and potential solution follows.

An unknown URL format was given and could not be processed. Please make sure you are attaching a .zip or .rar file in http(s) or ftp.
This error only happens when you're using remote upload. Batoto can only accept direct links to a zip or rar file.
Note, address given by sites like depositfiles is NOT a "direct" link no matter how much of misuse of the term exists on the Internet... Link that points directly to the download file without any forwarding, proxy or webpage is a direct link.

Could not open the zip file. Please make sure that there's no password in it and that the zip file is not corrupted.
The zip file that was received cannot be opened. Archives that has passwords cannot be opened by the server. Conversely, archives may become corrupted during the upload. So, if it's not password protected, you can simply try to upload once more.
If the problem continues, please try re-archiving the zip file (extract and recompress) and try again.
Also, part files are also unacceptable.

An unknown extension of a file is given. Please only upload .zip or .rar files.
Batoto only accepts .zip and .rar formats. This does NOT includes extensions like .001 where it's separated into parts. 7z, .tar, etc are also not accepted.

The uploaded file: [filename] cannot be read.
You should technically never see this. But if it does occur, please just try again. If the problem persists, please report.

An unknown error has occurred. Exception: [and some more text]
Please report these errors with all the error message that you received. Thank you. Posted Image

Upload failed. Please make sure all the required fields are selected correctly.
This only occurs when not all the required fields are set. Make sure you selected the group, comic, file, etc.

IOError
This is usually caused by flaky Internet connection. Please just try again.

Error 500 (and a mix of possibly some above)
There is a possibility that the upload occurs while the server is rebooting a certain service (ie due to update, bug fix, etc). This may cause an unexpected behavior. And there's really not much that can be done here. Just try again. lol If persists, report. Posted Image
