The protagonist has always been an asshole eversince he became a playboy, so no surprise on that.

Yeah, I agree with you on that, I suppose that little flashback just really came off as incredibly harsh to me though. Especially reading between the lines on what I personally believe the author was showing in that scene. We know from his thoughts and memories that he'd entered into a loveless (read nothing but sex) relationship with that girl in his "real" past.........essentially preying on her feelings for him to take advantage of her and bang her whenever he felt like. So basically what we saw in his memory was him just getting done having sex with her while her parents weren't home on Valentine's Day and then spurning her gift as he walked out the door without another thought. I honestly can't imagine anything harsher.

yeah, very much so...........the jury may still be out on if he can avoid his fate but if nothing else he's found some regret and at least made some effort at amends.

I have read the latest chapter release on Batoto..............

I can see he is at least trying his best to try help his friend from the very bottom of his soul, or maybe he fears for his life, like any human would. But I think it should not be ignored that he cares for his friend dearly and that in itself makes this a wonderful manga to read...............about keeping virginity intact. Ahem..............discuss people......

The latest chapter that's out at this moment is title "About the fact that I can't do anything for her". I'm not sure or too interested about who killed him, but for someone who was shown to have a mindset of an older, wiser person, he has alot of growing up to do. Apparently, for now that's the only extent that he could do for her - give her some family book and give the contraceptive chat.

I get that the main deal with him avoiding the 'I like you' route is because he's afraid of Masaki going crab-claws at his throat, but he could've easily done something for her on this second chance by throwing some caution to the wind. The whole 'on the fence-3rd person advisor', 'overwatch' stance doesn't work out a lot of times. Heck, I've never seen it happen IRL. Yeah, no? I'm not saying that he should just go ahead and date the kid, but if he did mature mentally, he should've seen more options on what to do.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite ongoing manga.

I'm still unsure whether he's actually time leaping, or he's just got back some memories from the future. Of course he thinks, that he's time leaping, but his memories from his "past" seem to be distant and lacking, while his present memories seem to be quite intact, unlike someone who graduated from high school a long time ago.

I really like the ambiance of this manga. It's interesting to see how the present changes around the MC, when he does the "right" things this time.

@Xaal:

He is more mature in some aspects, but remember he was a playboy, so he never really dealt with relationships. And despite all the future thing going on, here in this time he is still a kid, and he is just learning the things he missed out in his "past". It seemed like even in the future, he never really grew up, so his "maturity" is all about cigarettes, drinking and sex.

And he isn't avoiding the "I like you" route because of Masaki, he has no feelings (yet!) for Yoshino. He only considers briefly confessing to her before he realizes that it's a stupid idea. About the 'on the fence-3rd person advisor', that's only because he is a bit older mentally, so it's not a conscious approach.

I'm curios what more do you think he could have done for Yoshino? Don't forget, that here he is still just a kid so he has no money, Yoshino doesn't know yet that his boyfriend is gonna become an a$$hole, he only knows about her the few things that we've seen in the flashbacks, and she doesn't love or trust the MC. I don't think he could have done anything really helpful.

So far, I am getting the feeling that he needs to save Yoshino as part of the key to saving himself. Masaki originally killed him not because of the dating failure/envy but because he failed to save Yoshino. And just saving her might not be enough, the latest dream indicates someone else gets angry enough to kill him.

I find this manga very interesting, especially the main protaganist. Also the art is great too.
I didn't want to put this in the comments section, so I made this.

I have a feeling that Masaki did not kill Kazuya because he was a virgin, I dunno. I feel like this page:
http://vatoto.com/read/_/123613/ore-ga-doutei-wo-sutetara-shinu-ken-ni-tsuite_ch2_by_prozess/2

has something to do with it. If Kazuya is a lowly salary man, what the heck is he doing at this party? Why is that woman he was with going to greet the authors? Isn't Masaki a novelist? I feel like there is more to this, but I must wait for more chapters! Thanks PROzess, take your time. You seem to be working on a lot of stuff.

you know... that is something he said out of his mouth....It is for courtesy sake...... as the other guy already mention himself to be just a mere writer(like a ghost-writer?), not even a full-fledged author.

We already know what his real occupation is from this: http://vatoto.com/read/_/125048/ore-ga-doutei-wo-sutetara-shinu-ken-ni-tsuite_ch4_by_prozess/13

For the current chapter... most ppl should already see dat coming, right? Except for the part  he talk to ghost dat is.......this chpter only serve to proof me, right on that she....

Spoiler

to be honest, i couldn't care less about Yoshino and at the moment she say dat she is still not doing it..... I thought it is the end for Yoshino's arc as pretty much the same with the glasses girl last chapter ...... and the start of a new arc where the mc meet other girls.

On 2nd thought......  Yoshino's arc end..... would mean the end of this manga being Yoshino is the whole reason the mc is this shitty situation in the 1st place........ everything is pretty much expected..... but, i still want more girls and less Masaki, lol....

I am overjoyed he is a much better person now.

hmmmm.......... not really sure if the inside is dat much difference thought...... he is a playboy after all. He wouldn't be going to places such as the party when he 1st reunited with Masaki if he such a bad person. At least his mouth. The only difference is dat he now being nice to both girls and boys.

p/s:

Oh, just remember...... we won't be seeing he blatantly say "i love you", coz.... doing so..... is sooooo like going back to be a playboy (see glasses girl's arc) when all he want to do now is just to protect his virginity, right? From the tittle, it is pretty obvious he would stay virgin and maybe single until the end of this manga.

Future Masaki is sure one pathetic bastard.

Actually he is. Kazuya clearly couldn't do anything for Yoshino, not to mention "saving" her. That would be like an alcoholic saving a drug addict, they both were broken just on different level. It wasn't very nice of him to mention that, just after he was told her death, but it was the truth, and maybe he felt that Masaki deserved more than a few apologetic lies, after all they were friends a long time ago.

If Masaki was so damn hang up on her, he should have called her once or twice, and not expect someone else to "save" her. Same with their friendship, Masaki is also partially responsible for giving up on it.

I think Masaki attack Kazuya so violently, because he too realized, that he (Masaki) could have saved Yoshino, if he took the effort to give a damn about it. And that is just something he cannot accept. In the end they both become despicable people.
