Well at first the plot development was pretty slow but now that the story is picking up what do people think about characters, story line, setting, etc....?

This series is a philosophical zombies/solipsism setting (look it up on Wikipedia). Right now we have no idea what direction the series is going to go into because we have no knowledge of the world that trapped her in the first pace. Anyways, they're in almost complete control of the characters' lives regardless of what they try to do to figure out what's going on, at least from what I see.

I enjoy this series because the plot line (I believe) is What is this world? and For what reason was it created? There are a lot of sub plots that have been thrown in to the mix, but virtually of of them are concerned with the two mentioned. Because of this, they have to make the characters interesting enough to continue the story, but enigmatic enough to not give everything away at once. I find that dissecting little pieces that have been thrown in to make a re-read of the chapters enjoyable.

But all the parts of the world they're slowly figuring out......is almost like it's part of the "creators" plan, they're basically playing with their lives. I don't know if the part of the robot being destroyed was within their expectations though.

I totally agree with you on the fact that the bigger clues they get are placed there by someone else. As for the robot.. as they said.. Shiro is technically more sturdy than that killer robot(And what's up with him having a heartbeat? Replicants?) However, it might also be a possibility if there is more than one plan in effect. No one has said that there is just one person with a single ideal, after all.

k so many things were revealed in this chapter, if we assume "they" aren't lying.

Some questions that pop up

1. So this is a simulated world? Is it more similar to a virtual reality world, an artificial city in the real world, or a city in another world? (they did mention they made this world using data from another world)
2. What are the characters created in this world?.... Artificial Intelligence? Reproduced humans with something other than DNA?
3. What kind of experimentation is this and for what purpose?

3. What kind of experimentation is this and for what purpose?

From my own assumptions, and the way that they expressed everything as worlds, rather than places, I believe that multiple towns were created like 'research buildings.' They are isolated (mostly, not completely) from the main body, and they were either created using a blueprint from a previous 'research building' or from an actual human environment. If it were a virtual reality, people would more than likely age, or people's memories would be wiped every so often (like in ZegaPain). With the information given, it is most likely an artificial environment in the real world.
As for the other two questions... those are a lot harder to explain. The only big hint that we were given is that there are effectively no humans (really?) in this world, and that it is composed of at least "Metatoids"(Which seem to just be humanoid robots) and "Actinoid(s?)" (which seem to be something closer to an actual human with growth and developed personalities)

The real question I have at this point is "Why were they brought to the tower?" From what I can see.. it was either to create a new situation to edge Yuuka, or to fix Shiro's arm. If it were the later.. why is Shiro (appearance and otherwise) so important to them?

They would only truthfully answer her first three questions which are

Q. 1
What have you done to Shiro?
Answer: Fix his arm

Q. 2
What is the meaning behind this world?
Answer: A world created from tons of data

Q. 3
Can you explain it in a way I can understand?
Answer: They did explain it understandably, but it wasn't the answers she didn't already know

Everything up to page 16 is the truth, everything past that in there conversation can/is a lie.

Meaning the statement about her being "created" is a lie, especially since they never show actual proof like a video of her birth or a picture or any kind of hard evidence. It also means that her question about the robot can also be a lie that they sent it at her. Why would they send a already mangled up robot to test her? It could have malfunctioned or stopped before it carried out its mission.

From a physiological standpoint, this series is actually really similar to the book 1984. The people in power mind fucked the guy into complete and utter compliance because they had absolute power over him.

Even if they 'said' they would tell the truth about three questions, they could have just as easily lied about that as well. However, just for the sake of speculation (unless otherwise proven wrong,) one has to assume that portions of it are true.

And I would absolutely agree with you, if it weren't for the odd response Yuuka had given on page 23-24. The fact that it wasn't refuted, or rather that it was acknowledged, might make for some rather strange following chapters.
Spoiler
Suffice to say, I'm fairly certain this chapter produced a lot more questions than answers for it's readers.

Well, as of Ch 11, there are more normal people! Hiruma (Shiro's friend. Judging by what he eats, he is also a robot.) and a new character Yonekura Eno (she has some very large assets...). She seems very suspicious of Shiro and Yuuka. Though I was satisfied with just Shiro and Yuuka, I'm glad to see some more characters (somewhat) join the group.
P.S. is it me or did anyone else think that Hiruma's brother was a girl at first?

for some reason Shiro strikes me as a metatoid/actinoid hybrid, kinda like the hybrid robot in terminator salvation. It just makes sense to me given the fact that he has a heart and lungs (whatever material they're made of), also the fact the he has robots programmed to be his friends suggests Shiro is also under observation or possibly part of the experiment. Anyway this manga is great, can't wait to see what lies within the other blocks

from the latest chapter (chapter 14) the mental breakdown brings to mind a theory:

The human robots were created using actual human brains that were digitized into the robots bodies with adjustments so they could be used as they saw fit.

Reasoning:
In the grand scheme of things. If the observers could create humans perfectly as robots including there behaviors/thoughts/minds, than they wouldn't need to bother with observing an actual human being in the first place unless all of this was just some game, but considering how they have acted so far, its more than just them killing time.

This series is kinda reminding me a bit of George Orwell's 1984. The people who were alive before the war even after being indoctrinated still have some memories and resistance. The people who observed the MC stated that they knew of all his movements the whole time and were constantly watching him and there ultimate goal was to completely understand and control the people perfectly.
