So, is it only me or does wake up deadman suffer from really bad dialogue issues. I've considered there might be barriers in translation but really, I do not suspect it. I mean omg. Nothing anyone says in the story is ever cohesive. There is just so much small talk happening all the time that is irrelevant to the progression of the plot...which would be fine if the author wasn't struggling so hard to make most of what they said sound witty and ultimately butchering everything with lots of bad metaphors/ similes cause holy fucking shit.
I loved Fairy tale of the demon lord and but this series is just inconsistent with his last web comic.
Just my opinion guys, been bugging the piss out of me. Comment to speak out whether you agreee? You might had noticed? I am full of crap? Share your perspectives too.

Well, I think the author likes to write odd jokes that you couldn't see in you everyday comics. It sort of break the "political correctness" seen in most fictions.
When I read the first two or tree chapters I was like WTF.

You are not the only one who thinks the dialogues get in the way. One of my friend couldn't follow the serie because of this.

As for me, I don't dislike it. One reason may be that since I haven't read A fairy tale for the Demon Lord, which seems to be more serious, I can't compare the author's two works.

I think it helps break down the downright dark plot this could have been. If not for the comedy I don't think it would be as nearly as good of a read, even if it can be choppy--I think the puns make it very entertaining. Silliness!!

I quite liked the vast amount of jabs and banter in this work, it's more of a relaxed read rather then being serious about everything.

Not to say being serious is bad but, when every piece of work that i'm currently reading is all dominantly serious, I like the relaxed atmosphere of this.

<< Absolute Sword>>  Always standing before death, her reality differed from the rest of the world but her life weighed the same.

May the legend of the Absolute Sword be eternal, for the true beauty of life can only be seen by those that can see its end.

Even the author agreed that there was too much dialogue. It's not necessarily bad, and the plot is good, but it's interfering with my "suspension of disbelief" T_T

Its not just the small talk and the jokes.  The joking does work well to lighten the mood of the story.  The problem is the extended metaphors and the most of the talk about "rock," "revolution," and "dreams."  The author tries to be profound, but usually comes off as overwrought and cliche.  The dialogues between Sahu and Kanis, and Skull and Kanis tend to be this way.  Also, some parts are poorly translated.  There entire sentences that do not make sense.  More frequently there are incorrect words that, while not completely destroying the meaning of a sentence, convolute or change it to such a degree that it is hard to follow.  I often have to go back and re-read a section twice because the meaning is lost in a garble of words.   I'm not sure if this is mostly the fault of the translators or of the dialogue produced by the author himself.

I really love it as it is, but I really like really seriously written stuff as well, and would have to see what wake up deadman would be like if written like that. If dialogue was all on topic with less comical relief I mean. And I am not in any way saying it would be better or worse, just something that would be interesting to see.

Well, at least there is less dialogue than in "Knight run".
The writing has not really bothered me up to this point, but I can easily see it being irritating. Add to the fact that the authors stories, going on this work as well as Fairy-Demon*, gets quite convoluted, and it is easy to see this getting extremely frustrating.
One thing about this being cliché. Look at the basic gist of the two webtoons published. Fairy-Demon is ,at least in the beginning, basically "Princess getting saved by knight in shining armour", while Deadman is "Zombies!!!". This is an oversimplification, mind you. But the authors works seem to me be altered versions of some of the most cliché things within culture as a whole. (Obvious, but still.)
This is just ignoring the question stated above though (by thread-maker). Yes, the writing is sometimes/often bad, and the plot is quite sporadic to say the least.(Do not get me started about the jokes, though they fill their function.) At the same time I love Deadman, and will continue doing so. It is one of the better webtoons I have ever read. With only Fairy-Demon,ToG and a few others trumping it.
(Sorry if this all I said was completely unrelated or incomprehensible/idiotic. It is 2.00 am when I am writing this, so too tired to read through and correct it all.)

*Fairy-Demon is just a fun shortening of "Fairytale for the Demon Lord", it works so why not.
Does anyone know of a children's book containing a cannibal pirate captain who tricks a priest into eating his own servant? I know it exists, but have forgotten the name.
