Some common comments and my response to them (and no, I am not using spoiler tags just to make this look clean. Read at your own risk):

Rintaro is a wuss, stupid, etc.

Rintaro begins undergoing some changes in the next few chapters. He starts growing a backbone, he gets "betrayed" and actually shuns all his "friends".
More surprisingly, he joins an illegal fight ring and actually does very well (ch 9 or 10, latest one as of 6/19).

Why is Rintaro in Hell?

Koyori, being his guide, knows the reason he is in Hell, but there has been no actual mention of it.

My theory on the subject...

- In chapter 6, a mysterious girl appears and sings some children's song. Rintaro notices her, tries to follow her but loses her. I am guessing this girl is/was somehow connected to Rintaro in real life.

- Rintaro died drunk. People drink for many reasons, one is to hide from painful memories of the past.

- Rintaro seems unusually perverted for his nature in Hell.

- His guide, Koyori, is a little sister like personality. According to chapter 7, Sinners and Demons are assigned to one another based on several factors to make them most compatible with each other.

Theory: Rintaro's sin is related to Sloth, one of the 7 deadly sins, characterized by laziness or inaction in dire situations. Perhaps the girl we see was a former girlfriend or someone very close to him who was killed tragically and he could have prevented the death in some way but failed, or his laziness or inaction somehow indirectly caused her death. Rintaro had trouble coping with that and thus drowned his sorrows in the bottle which killed him.

Please do note, that is only a theory and is likely wrong, don't put much weight on it.

Information on Hell:

-- The currency is the yhen. 1 yhen = 1 yen the symbol for yhen is 怨(ura(mu)/en) which means "to bear a grudge".
-- No matter what kind of punishment or torture a sinner undertakes, s/he is completely healed the next day.
-- You gain money in Hell by receiving punishment or torture.
-- The more severe the punishment or torture, the more money you get. Good for masochists.
-- Sticking a nail under your fingernails is one way of making a lot of yhen.
-- (ch 6) You can get a part time job in hell
-- (ch 7) Sinners and Devils are matched for compatibility through several means.
-- (ch 10) The guide devils for each sinner know the reason(s) their sinners are in Hell.
-- (new info, chapter 11): According to Koyori, the punishment for killing one ant is one year in Hell.
-- Whether you go to Heaven or Hell is largely determined by the weight of your good deeds vs the weight of your bad deeds.

I can add some more, but won't because of ch 11 spoilers. If I forgot something from previous chapters, let me know.

When is the next chapter coming out?

Soon ™ We do have lives. The editor will not be available for another 5 days or so, by then I should have the chapter ready for him to clean and edit. How long that takes, I don't know I have not worked with him... (or her) before. But it IS in progress and it will come out... eventually.

When does Jigokuren come out?

Jigokuren comes out on the 20th of every month at around 12:00 noon, Japan time (GMT+9). In the event the 20th is a weekend, it comes out the Friday before. If the 20th is a Monday and a holiday, it will be released the following Tuesday or whenever the next working day is.

Please do visit and click on some adds to support the publisher and the author.

Scroll down till you see the picture of Koyori which should appear below the blue bar that says the 20th, but before the pink bar that says the 30th. You should have no trouble finding it as the Engrish "Love in the Hell" is there for you. Worst case scenario, do a find for it. The newest chapter always has a red box that says "new" there for you.

Well that's pretty normal don't you think? He is in hell , he doesn't even know why and he must suffer incomparable pain in order to atone for sins he isn't aware of so i think it is pretty normal.
I really pity him so at least i hope we will learn why he is hell to know if really he deserves to be there because it seems that even for something like throwing trash on th street is considered a sin for which you must go to hell even though you are tortured.
