I think Jesus would always be working to help others, "vacation" or not. No way would Jesus look the other way from pain and suffering of people and strive for a casual ordinary life.
I don't think Jesus would want a sword. Jesus faith in god is complete right, a sword, even as a fashion item, would put this faith to doubt.

Something I don't get, why would jesus still be wearing the crown of thorns even though hes suppose to be coming to earth for casual selfish reasons? If that were the case, he wouldn't mind taking off the crown of thorns. Its not like he has nails or holes in his hands in in the comic (I haven't seen feet yet) It is a strange contradiction in the comic.


I know less about Buddha, but from what I understand, he was a ordinary man, no fancy ears or hard hair. That this man sought to help others find wisdom and balance in their regular every day lives on their own, using their own minds. I would think Buddha could adjust to a modern life easier and would be a guide for such a life for Jesus. Jesus would take care of the spiritual and heavenly aspect, of which the Buddha had little interest in from my understanding.


It would also make more sense for both Buddha and jesus to be brown skinned. Where as in this comic they are some of the most asian looking characters I have ever seen in a manga.

Because I am pretty unfamiliar with Buddhism in general and the Buddha in particular I’ll refrain from commenting on that. But as for what Jesus would be like today instead of 2000 years ago, I imagine he’d still be the same, doing the same stuff. Healing the sick, feeding the hungry, soothing the troubled, forgiving sins and preaching God’s word. Not much that has change since back then, really.

It’s because the crown of thorns is a distinctive characteristic so the mangaka chose it for such aesthetic/design reasons rather than for any “plausible” one.

I don't believe Jesus is God, the bible does not support "the holy trinity" concept, from what I have read.

Jesus would be in jail.  He'd have been a peace/antipoverty/maybe environmental activist, and being Jesus a very effective, popular one.  So they would have trumped up charges against him like they have against many such activists, and stuck him in the slammer for many years.  He could have had the cell next to Bradley Manning.  Tea Partiers would consider him a terrorist socialist.

Well, according to the Green Mile Jesus Christ should be John Coffey and according to Tezuka-sensei manga Buddah could be anything!
