But seriously, considering their situation, a fireman axe or a machete. A katana is all well and good, but require constant maintenance, particularly in the environment they are in. You'd want something u can abuse and use for more than just killing. A machete will be good for hacking at bush, mb chop down small trees and even sharpen sticks into better spears. Plus, any idiot can use it somewhat easily.

Definitely a katana. Every time I read the story I keep picturing a character similar to Saeko from H.O.T.D. just going hard on these animals.

I'd go for a machete, a metal file and a whetstone along with it.

id say a survival knight or maybe a machete but no way i would take a katana why u ask? katana break far to early their durability is kinda low ;< if u want to take a sword take some european broadsward those things have a lot more power and have far more durability ;x

I wouldn't bring a katana either though, since I don't know a thing about swordsmanship I'd probably crap on the blade in a few swings. The broadsword also loses some points since it's length doesn't make it practical to carry and swing around the jungle, I also doubt you'd like to use it to chop trees and wood. Sharpening either of these takes some skill, on the other hand, I have sharpened machetes and it's no big deal.

Since it says what "WEAPON" you would bring with you, if I can I would bring a 45 cal. handgun(dont care what kind) and 3 magazines (trying to be reasonable not like bringing an arsenol with you) as for the reason, I wouldn't use on animals (because its fairly easy to sharpen things to make short range weapons and a bow would be tough to be accurate without experience not to mention the effort to pull it) but to use against humans after all we know how crazy our kind can become(real life and the manga refrences) I would like to save the bullets as long as I can because you know not like you'd find random free bullets on the ground or growing on trees in eden island(or anywhere) so mostly for intimidation and what not even a grown man would be afraid of a gun or atleast they should be

hmmm me id have to say a weapon that can still be used even though it suffers lots of abuse id have to say a sledgehammer or a fireman's axe if it was possible to have firearms id say an Assault Kalashnikov 1974 (ak-74) with 3 30round clips because the gun is damn durable and can be used in many conditions (that's part of the reason why there are so damn many!!!!) set it to semi auto and take steady shots but if the assault rifle is impossible either a sledgehammer or a fireman's axe

also katanas are a bad choice they are not well known for their durability the edge goes out after a couple slices through bones not to mention those monsters have some pretty damn thick skin the katana would lose temperment if you try to slice to hard also if i misused/misspelled some words forgive me spelling is not my strong suite.
