Thank you for your interest in The Company!

Hopefully you know a little bit of who we are and what we do. If not, we encourage you to come to our IRC channel (#thecompany on irc.ipocalypse.net) to chat with our staff members or otherwise ask us any questions you may have about joining a scanlation group.

If you already know about who we are and wish to join us, read on for how to do so!

An application to The Company consists of:

  • completing and submitting a few tests to gauge your skill, and
  • your application forum thread (posted into this recruitment forum).

Your application is not complete until both of these things are done. Here is an outline/overview of the steps needed:

  • Meet the general requirements for The Company.
  • Take the test for your position (more explained below).
  • Submit the test via PM to your test coordinators.
  • Make a thread in the forum with the Application below.
  • You will receive a response within 7 days, via Batoto forums/PM. If you do not receive a reply within 7 days, PM the people in charge of your test (see section below on test submission) and ask for a status update -- either your original message didn't go through, the reviewers were busy, or some other mishap happened.

General Requirements

  • Must be able to work both independently and within a group
  • Must be able to take direction and advice from senior staff
  • Must be responsible and able to meet deadlines and/or keep the group apprised of your progress
  • Must be able to access and join our IRC chat room (or, if you have no idea what IRC is, be willing to learn how to use IRC; this is a relatively simple process)

Application (Make this in the forum)

How To Submit Your Tests

Please send your completed tests via Batoto's PM system. You can (and should) add more than one person to the PM, so you don't need to send two separate PMs. Also, please link to your application. You can upload your test results to places like mediafire.com, dropbox.com, etc.

For Cleaner test: Send a PM with the result to Grumpy, Trebor, and mhh
For Typesetter test: Send a PM with the result to Grumpy, Trebor, and Fembot
For Translator test: Send a PM with the result to Grumpy and Trebor
For Proofreader test: Send a PM with the result to Grumpy and Trebor
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE POST YOUR RESULTS ON THE FORUM IN PUBLIC!!!

The Tests

All tests are meant to be hard. Not all portions of the tests are meant to be passed. Question is simply how well you do and how badly we need you right now.

None of these tests are meant to be short. Please take your time to complete them. It's about quality over speed (not like we can even know how long it took you...).

English Proofreader Test
Fore note, if you have not yet graduated from university, there is an extremely high statistical probability you will not pass this test. This is merely stats of past applicants, not a requirement. This warning is not here to challenge you if you have not graduated yet. It's here to reduce the amount of time we need to spend on applications.
