It's been a while sinds i finished watching season 1 of To Aru Majutsu no index and i absolutely loved it. one of the best anime's i ever saw (when a friend ask me to show them why i like anime i always show to fight with Aureolus Izzard (the Alchemist) )

i din't particular like the railgun spin off so i was really happy when season 2 came out but i stopped watching after 5/6 episodes because bluntly said i tough it was crap (mainly the logic: if the Toma tackles a bad person they instantly faint and when they get up they are suddenly good people)

My question is:

Is the manga better than the anime?
and will it be worth reading if i didn't like season 2?

No I have to say the anime is better this time. Novel to Manga adaptation are usally of lesser quality.

Well I didn't really get into the Railgun anime but some reason the manga for it was really well done in my opinion.

The Railgun manga is an original spin-off series written by the author of the novels, and the anime was done over the manga. The manga's storyline is more associated with to aru majutsu no index's storyline and has some good battles in it, while the anime has a lot of fillers done by the director.

  • LocationThe internet. Actually, no, I'm a bunch of letters on your screen that may or may not originate from a person who acts a little different when talking to you face to face. Can be found at the D2 Brigade, MAL, on twitter and on tvTropes (mainly the ToG page).

The Railgun manga is an original spin-off series written by the author of the novels, and the anime was done over the manga. The manga's storyline is more associated with to aru majutsu no index's storyline and has some good battles in it, while the anime has a lot of fillers done by the director.

Though I must say the filler was quite interesting.
And even though this should actually go into the railgun forum, I'll say it here: the manga is great. Their take on the sisters arc was not only more heartwrenching and doomed, it also gave you a little glimpse into Accel's head. And that was much more effective in justifying his path into twisted heroism than Index.
Generally, everything focussing on Accelerator was more interesting than Touma's adventures later on.

But that wasn't the question. I think the Index novels were better adapted by the anime than the manga. I didn't feel as dry, at least at first.
Also, the manga doesn't have this:

Iuchi Maiko's score for the anime franchise (she wrote about a hundred songs) is great. It is glorious. She is not an all-round talent like the two Y.K.s, but her work on this franchise makes it a few notches more awesome.

hmm I watched/read both and although it was better suited for the anime, many of the scenes were just better executed in the manga in my opinion. That applies to a lot of light novel series.
As for the Railgun spin-off, the manga is pretty good but the anime is mostly just fillers.

yea the anime is better it has more depth to it and has more details to link up some points that might be hard to understand in the manga
For Light there must be Dark so what does Dark do to have Light?

The manga is worst than the anime. They skipped entire story arcs so no, not recommended. And I like you didn't like the Railgun anime that much, but the Railgun manga is awesome.

well usually a adaption from a lightnovel to manga or anime is pretty difficult. I understood a lot of things only because I read the lightnovels, not neccessarily because the manga is inaccurate but simply because they are too limited with the pages.
something I didn't like about the anime...well a good example would be the fight touma against accelerator, I mean in the anime it looks like touma hardly took any damage and then just faints but if you read the lightnovel (or the railgun chapters of the manga) you see just how badly touma got injured during that fight.
generally I'd say you're best of reading the lightnovel. the anime isn't too bad either. if you however only follow the manga you might miss some details.

In my opinion, the manga kinda sucks compared to the anime. The best is to read the light novel and after every volume, the corresponding anime episodes until the end of the second season and after that just read the light novel

Light Novel > Manga >>>>> Anime

Simply didn't like the anime, read the novel and you'll most likely know why. It's realization simply didn't surpass imagination provided by the LN and Manga, I'll blame the director for that..

Anime drops a lot of characterization and also a few fairly significant info dumps related to plot that kind of hinders its progression if it adapts further. The manga made a big mistake in my opinion by dropping two entire arcs, but it at least included the IND plot stuff. LN always wins though.
