A lot of survival manga tends to be pretty popular because of the many themes it can cover and virtually many ways the plot can go. Horror, mystery, friendship and companionship, thriller, etc etc.

*^ I agree the most compelling this about this manga is how unpredictable it can be.

Like who would have though Zanji would have died? And thats something else, I hate it when characters do die (I'm big on character development lol) but I love that people actually die, being that its so much more realistic and makes the struggle seem so much more genuine.

yup yup.... unpredictable makes it really a survival theme....it's also the art that makes it nice..... this manga is like combining "jurassic park" + "Lost".... ppl got lost on a deserted island where DNA manipulated animals reside and roam free cuz of the destruction of the island's administrators....... unly that it is the students that rise up to be the leader of the survival group....

In the beginning I found it quite interesting how 'modern' people had to deal with dangerous extinct animals and crazy situations.. But now after reaching +120 chapters, in my opinion, what happens in each chapter is somewhat predictable :/

Kinda the same than Pagreek here. I guess I'm only following it because I'm use to. Between the ecchi and the battles that takes forever, the pace of this manga is really dragged down.
In term of survival, I find 7 seeds 100 times better.
So I guess I'm just interested in the general plot now.

Well, actually, the main reason I come back is because I'm 148 chapters in and I'd like to see how this issue will be resolved, but you know in the end *teary voice* I just want to see the boys(and girls) get back home.

I have no idea why people keep bring up "Lost", "Jurassic Park" or whatever. While these may have been "popular" at one time, but have you asked yourselves how old are Jurassic and Lost? Maybe it is well known in the US but can you say the same for other part of the world? Especially in Japan where the majority of people doesn't speak any English.

I've watched both Jurassic and Lost, but seriously I have not much recollection of the entire stories. To be frank, Jurassic = Dinosaurs while Lost = Plane clashes, that's pretty much I can recall. lol

@Kdom Eden no Ori aka Cage of Eden is shounen while 7 Seeds are Josei, how do we even compare these two?

Personally I like Mystery, Psychological and Romance genres for Manga, and the art style fits the setting very well. Yamada's drawing skills had improved alot since -Ex Shounen Hyouryuu-, I almost couldn't tell it was by the same Mangaka.

Lost is not that old... And Jurassik park is a classic so obviously they are in people mind when speaking of a survival stories with dinosaurs. What is the problem in recalling them ?

Both Eden no Ori and 7 seeds are survival manga. One is mostly just all the cliche of shonen together while the other transcends the genre with great storytelling and character evolution.

@Kdom I've no idea whether you are refering to my post but I assume you are because your post is right below me.

Yeah Lost is not that old...it's from 2004. Pardon me but I had to look up Wiki for the details as I really have no recollections of what happened later on. Note that it has six seasons and is a TV drama, which tends to drag on for years. And people or rather human being are very forgetful creatures, we remember thing in minute particles. Meaning we link an object or subject to something we are familiar with.

I tends to use food as references lol, so here goes. There are thousands or maybe million kinds of foods in the world, how do people remember all thoses foods and their names?
Most people identify them by their taste or scent, and barely any can describe the textures of the food or down to the point of their appearance in raw form. Unless that person have an interest in it, say a chef.

When it comes to things not associated with your daily lifes like gossip or any entertainments, especially on TV. The majority of them often forget what they had just seen or heard instantly as it has nothing to do with their lifes.

About things being a Classic, as I had stated above and in my previous post. People tends to remember things in parts, usually the crucial parts. Unless they are obsessed with the said subjects or it is a part of their life, normally no one would recall every single things prefectly. And Eden no Ori only mentioned prehistoric animals and not dinosaurs.

I figured you have no idea what "Shounen" and "Josei" means...Shounen is "young ones" or "teenagers" while Josei is females, and there is "Shoujo"(young girls) before Josei. Hence I asked why did you lumped Eden and 7 Seeds together? And did you not read the title of this thread? It is for dicussing why you liked Eden no Ori aka Cage of Eden.

Please pardon me for being so blunt.

Thank you but I know the demographic. Demographic are just labels to help readers they do not really refer to a genre in the sense of a plot content. Therefore it is perfectly legitimate to compare a shonen to a josei if these manga both treat the same topic.

And I don't think a bit of debate harms the thread. I answered why I continue reading it and I'm not alone to think that way apparently

Oh...so a game designed for older players are also suitable for kids? If they are all labeled as "adventure", it mean everyone can play it? o.O

I'm just trying to have an logical reasoning here but it seems you can't accept my points, so I'm including a Link for an Shounen Manga about being a Mangaka and the Manga industry here> http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/bakuman-r63

You keep talking about demographic when i talk you about plot so I think it is you who don't accept my point. My question is what is the relation between the demographic and the quality of the manga ?
In your game comparison, adults can both play it so they can compare it.
And what Bakuman has to do here ?
And honestly 7 seeds is label as josei but it is perfectly readable and enjoyable by teenagers

Partially because I'm committed at this point, and it's an interesting enough read even with some pseudo-science and whatnot tossed in.

Also the argument above, really?
Mimamotte I think you're misunderstanding the intention of what people are saying. Just leave it be, it's not really a big issue.
