well.... i fell in love with this manga... watched its anime and fell in love with it more...

Takumi Fujiwara is the hesitant hero in this story... at first he doesn't know anything about cars, its body types, engines, model.. etc... even how techniques are called though he's doing it quite often during his deliveries of tofu using an AE86 Panda Trueno... an old car with monstrous engine (cool!).. He was caught with his fathers trap, told him to beat up some Akagi drivers (will tell u later who he is) with a full tank gas as a reward..... and so he started racing cars in mountain passes unwillinglly...
That's how the legend begun of the AE 86 of Mt. Akina... (aka the ghost of mt. Akina)...

Bunta Fujiwara. He is a tofu shop owner/vendor.. likewise the original master of downhill specialist.. He is Takumi's father... He's secretly (that's what i think..) training his son to drive by putting water on a paper cup, placed it on the cup holder (inside the car.. of course) and instructed not a single drop to be spilled...every time his son delivers Tofu..... He's a cool and actually a caring-for-his-son's happiness dad... (i like the way they made his character ... make me sometimes wish i could have a dad like him...)

the apparent telepathic conversation isn't the worst thing about the latest chapters its that its dragging on too much. Not much is happening in a chapter anymore it feels to slow. its a racing manga the action should be fast paced. project D illegal mountain races should have ended by now, with them graduating to professional racing. project D team going pro rather than takumi & keisuke going to spaces on established rival teams. Over rev is a similar manga to initial D's start which is still young enough to have not lost its way. its seems to me that mangas have small story arcs to begin with but when they've become established the arcs get longer and longer and in some cases may be a bit too long. Even so the first 300 chapters of initial D are very good even if the arts a bit poor.
