He's not as into Shinako as he used to be/thinks he is. And he has more feelings for Haru than he's willing to acknowledge. At this point it's all at least partly habit, both chasing Shinako and rejecting Haru. God, he's so mentally lazy . . . can't even be bothered to figure out how he actually feels about things. It weirds me out that this actually feels quite realistic; it's a way people are.

It really is realistic when you see how a lot of couples stay together for longer than they should because they deny that they have issues and they delay that "soul-searching/ introspection" for some time.
There's also thee fact that a lot of people live in the past or the future, but very rarely do they live for the present.

OK, so we've had someone trying for Haru before. But this time Rikuo is showing signs of jealousy on finding out about it. Even though this time, he's got the girl he's supposedly been wanting all this time (well, sort of got her). I know guys will get irrationally jealous twinges about a girl getting into someone else even if they don't really like her that way, but normally when you're in a new relationship that goes away; you're too busy getting warm fuzzies about the girl you're with to be worried about other people's romances.

yep I really understand what you're both talking about, I was really for Rikuo to end with Shinako, because he could help her with her big ass baggage, but the more I read, the more I acknowledge Haru, and Rikuo has feelings for her but as you have said is lazy and also can't give up on Shinako because he was a big part of him, but he knows how difficult is for her too, also the feeling of both being more mature, is a big part of why he doesn't want Haru but at the same time why he can't give up on her.
in conclusion, Shinako sucks, she can't move on and doesn't give a damn about dragging others to that state.

So we see that Shinako obviously still has feelings for the little brother because she is worried about him and jealous about the other girl. Rikuo is letting his ex stay there but Haru knows now and she was looking like worried probably for him because she knows he is being taken advantage of. Basically everyone i this keeps denying their feelings and wanting to be with someone that they aren't with, like almost every character.
