I was like "what the fu*k?". I laughed so hard, yet I'm trying to get rid of that memory now. I enjoyed Gut's reference more. >.<

Did anyone else think Hal and his search for a heart was a subtle reference to the tin woodsman from the wizard of oz?

Or was that just me?

There is an entire paragraph dedicated to reference in the French wikipedia page.
Apparently French manga authors like this type of humor, Dreamland is also full of them. I think they were influence by Lanfeust (A French comic bestseller) which was one of the first to use it that highly.
