So the genders don't matter so much to me as long as someone fulfills the roles in a family.
It helps convey a lot of things I want to tell people but don't know how to so I just direct them to this manga if I can get them interested enough.
True that, it's why I migrated from Mangafox and Mangareader to Batoto too. :3

Such as you won't find Ichinensei ni Nacchattara on Batoto it to far a provocative title for this manga host site.
Also this site only hosts resent mangas (or ones that people upload anyway), so you won't find old completed series like Otaku no Musume-san on Batoto.
Back to the topic, this is my favourite manga series to date although it still contains the same tropes that a lot of other gender bender mangas contain that are down right irritating,

There's a certain kind of comedy, though, that goes with this kind of thing a lot and which starts to bug me when there's too much. That is, the comedy of embarrassment/humiliation. Sometimes that gets laid on a little thick in this manga.
But mostly it's pretty good, and there's a lot more going on here than I would expect in a manga with this kind of light, breezy style.

I am enjoying this manga. I like the mangaka's art, even though most of his attractive girls look even more alike than Adachi Mitsuru's heroines. It takes a mileu (is that the right word) that many readers are unfamiliar with and, with humor and understanding, makes it more comprehensible. I am a hetero male, from a small town in the USA, and it wasn't until I went to college that I realized that people who live an "alternate lifestyle" did not have horns and cloven hooves (probably, UC Berkeley was a good place to cure me of provincialism). I like this manga, because it humanizes rather than stereotypes those who deviate from what some people think of as the "norm," and that is an important part of cultural education.
I do agree with the previous poster that the comedy of embarrassment/humiliation goes a little overboard, and some of the reactions to other's actions are, in my opinion, a leetle bit unrealistic. Masahiko is too easily manipulated by his cousin, his girlfriend, and his colleagues from school, often by use of this device. The first time my club members tried to use overt blackmail on me by threatening me with an embarrassing video taken illegally and in secret, I would have taken a baseball bat to them, and told the entire school at the top of my lungs what was going on. The Duke of Wellington's response to blackmail, is clearly the best, "Madam, Publish and be damned!" Also, the first time my "best friend" announced he was going to seduce my high school aged cousin and my aunt, would be the last time he was a friend of any sort. That is like doing or saying nothing when someone announces to you, "I am going to @#$% your mother, or little sister." It isn't a normal reaction, even for the most timid 19 year old males. Another part I thought unrealistic was when the male club members were hoisted with their own petard in the onsen. While immensely satisfying from a poetic justice point of view (I consider plotting to get girls drunk for the purpose of sex to be rape), I found the idea of at least eleven (I counted them in the onsen panel) 18-22 year old guys all turned into play toys by 2 men (girly men?) a little unlikely. If that was their level of toughness, they wouldn't have been able to blackmail a cub scout, let alone Masahiko.
All that aside, I do like this manga, as much as I liked the author's, "Under the Dapple Shade." The art is clean and well drawn, the characters and plot are interesting and definitely entertaining.

Wow! Shion has gotten cooler by a large factor in this chapter. Masahiko seems to have realized this as well. She has some definitely bratty characteristics (early chapters), but she's quite intelligent (and almost as devious a planner as Naedoko from Koi Dano Ai Dano). This chapter, like the last one (from a loooong time ago) has raised the bar quite a bit for drama (the good, entertaining kind) in this manga. The ace up her sleeve I mentioned eight months ago has become more like four aces. I'm impressed (against my will) with the reaction of the "director." It seems as though he has a passion for film, rather than just being a pervert (even though previous chapters show him up as scum). Ejima, however, stays the same, and should be sent by the club to film Australian Saltwater Crocodiles while swimming in an estuary and wearing a string of pork chops around his neck. He makes the "best friends" in a Seo Kouji manga look like James Bond's twin brother.
My veneration and total love to Village Idiot for giving us this chapter. Thanks for a lot of fun from one of my favorite mangaka's stories. VI RULES!!!
P.S. When I said "from a loooong time ago" I was venting my frustration in not keeping up with one of my favorite manga as fast as I would like to. VI, please do not take it as a criticism of your scanlation practices, as I know you do multiple manga, and do a great job on them (translation, scanning and turning them into very good English). Thanks for your incredible work, and for bringing such great manga to a monolingual jerk like me.

I followed the link you provided. That's sad, but I hope someone else will pick it up. I notice that recently another group started scanlating the mangaka's Cat's Eye, beginning at the first chapter. Maybe they will give it a shot, or someone else.

Yeah, I do too. Whatever anyone thinks of an individual title, it's just a flat out shame to see one taken to the point of being over 80% completed and then not be finished. There's only 2 volumes or so of the 14 volumes total until completely scanlated for this one.
I know it's a lot of work though, so I can totally understand VIS's postition...........if nobody there is liking it anymore, it's pretty tough to ask anybody to work on it no matter what the status.

Well, thanks to Nojay, it looks like we'll see this manga through to the end. I enjoyed the last two chapters about Kaoru's singing. She's become a more interesting character for me lately. At first, I though, "Man am I tired of this punk with the attitude," but she's got more depth than it seemed at first.

Interesting background on Yuko in the last few chapters. I also noticed that our hapless mc stepped up to talk with her and gave her a few things to think about. While he's not a "man of action" and keeps getting caught in the toils of his cousin, girlfriend, film club colleagues, etc., he does step up on occasion when it's needed. He tore out of the house to help Kaoru in her battle with the thugs, while his "studly" buddy Ejima freaked out and called for backup. His social skills are pretty much nil, having basically lived his childhood up through high school alone, but he is learning and starting to move on. Although the plot seems to highlight him as a caricature of the eternal victim/butt of jokes, there's a lot more to him than that. I'm looking forward to where this manga goes.

I really enjoyed this latest chapter, as we finally got to see [the troll] Shion squirming as result of her own plots instead of setting up Masahiko and the others to go through the pain of embroilment. We also see that Masahiko does have feelings for her other than cousinly kinship. On the whole, a real fun chapter to the continuing saga. I'm really glad this manga is continuing to be scanned and translated. Thanks, Segobi. Great job.

I'm about halfway caught up on this series. Really enjoying it aside from some stupidity (Asian humor laid on thick?) here and there.
But now I'm getting this knawing fear that the series will end in the following manner... The MC will "confess", as they say in the manga biz, to Shion saying he is in love with her/him regardless of gender. She passionately returns his feelings... there is a shared kiss, the end. We never get to learn Shion's true gender (though we all do have one whether important or not) because that is pretty much the point of this whole story. I hope I'm wrong...

And speaking of the MC, he alone is reason enough for me to question putting this manga on my watch-list. He is a consumate coward. I enjoy stories where characters progress through stages of development but its so subtle in this case as to be almost nonexistent. Which leaves us with 97 chapters of indecisive foolishness punctuated by moments (very brief moments...) of bravery & lucidity that are sort of shoehorned in... usually to set up a gag or some humiliating event afterwards that "unwinds" any potential growth or plot development.
I'm sorry I don't share the opinions on this thread. I really wanted to like this manga because I think it has/had some great ideas to share.

Well, I wasn't really surprised at the denouement with Yoko at the end of chapter 99. It always seemed to me that she only had time for Masahiko when it was convenient for her. She always got mad at him when he was a few minutes late to meet her, but didn't hesitate to break dates with him like it was cool. I always felt that she was an "it's all about me" person, and never really noticed much else about her character. Looking forward to where it goes from here.

I did feel like this a lot of the times, but at the same time he wasn't into it as well. This breakup was a long time coming and not because of the rival love interest(s).
