In case anyone didn't know, MuvLuv Alternative is the sequel to MuvLuv

MuvLuv is a Visual Novel like School Days, Clannad, Tsukihime and more.

In this thread, we will discuss anything regarding the Visual Novel. Differences between the VN and the manga, opinions about the VN, and anything in between.

Just for information, MuvLuv's plot is separated into two parts. MuvLuv-Extra and MuvLuv Unlimited. Extra is like a normal romantic comedy. Unlimited is when he wakes up in a parallel world.

After Unlimited ends, is when Alternative begins.

On a side note, I have both games. I just need to change my language settings to Japanese, and I can start playing.
However, I'm lazy and might not get to it soon. If there's some demand for additional information about the games and how they relate to the manga, I might start earlier, but it's not likely considering I'm going to be busy with Christmas.

Also, before you plan to go out and get MuvLuv, be warned that it's an eroge, not a galge. That means it has sex in it.

Visual novel?

Where can I get my hands on it?

I actually have no idea where to get a visual novel in the first place^^

Looking for translated light novels?

Baka - Tsuki

There are MANY translated light novels, including Highschool DxD, Toaru Majutsu no index, Infinite Stratos, Seirei tsukai no kenbu AND Date a live (the Manga adaption of which got cancelled after chapter 6)

I am 22 and male, it is normal to like watching that kind of thing once in a while (adult material)

Well, unless you have an "overly attached girlfriend"

Besides, it's not like eroge is the primary part of the story anyways so it's not like I was actually watching/reading a porn (I wonder, just how do they call visual novels where the primary focus is on sex scenes, I mean the manga in that category would be called "hentai", just wondering)

But honestly, I am surprised that nobody bothered to make an official translation of MuvLuv (the visual novel)

I checked the online stores recently, but all I could find were imported versions of this LN (I live in Europe) for the consoles xbox360 and PS3 (not sure about PC and other consoles), but no translated ones at all (I am fine with reading manga on scanlation sites, but I NEVER download games for free=pirate them. Never. Same goes for movies as well. I know, stupid logic, but my principle is that I couldn't optain the manga otherwise at all and considering that they are a very interesting piece of literature, if you can call it like that, I am sad about how little they spread)

But well, we always have the lot of people who are used to the cartoons for kids (and maybe some kid's shounen anime dub broadcasted on TV).

They think that anime and manga is mostly just for kids/young people (=childish) and don't really want to touch that (I was like that for quite a while as well)

But, a lot of anime/manga is 100% NOT for kids, even though they can have quite harmless sounding names that make you think of a child's story

For example:

Elfen Lied

This is german (for some reason the Author Okamato Lynn chose that name) which means something like Elf song/Fairy song what would indicate that this story was something beatiful and well- suited for children

Well, you don't even need to read halfway through the first chapter to realize that this story is a big collection of blood, gore and more blood, accompanied by very sad scenes throughout the story

Don't get me wrong, Elfen Lied is a masterpiece (got an anime adaption) and very well done, but is no way in hell something you should let read a kid

Well, you shouldn't really read it late at night either.

There you got it.

If someone reads the story up to now (the MuvLuv Unlimited story) then you can kinda expect that the reader isn't really bothered (in a negative sense) by some adult material ;)

This game has one fairly minor "happy sex" scene and one extremely awkward tentacle rape scene, both involving the same girl, so if eroge is what you're looking for then you're barking up the wrong tree.
