Seeing as this makes numerous references to medical science, I thought it might be fun/interesting to do a fact check.

Feel free to contribute or correct my data in any way. Science changes and new data is always found.

Bleack Death - "If it were to heppen today, it would wipe out forty to ninety percent of our population" - ch1 page 8

It's very Unlikely. The Black Death, AKA Yersinia pestis is a bacteria that strikes and spreads easily due to poor living conditions. It is unlikely that any civilization with good hygiene would be affected that badly. Especially with modern medicine, quarantines and other disease control techniques.
The story also fails to take into account that the plague stuck a few times after the most famous outbreak and killed a significantly fewer amount of people. In fact, when it reoccurred in France, nearly a million died. When it reoccurred in England, it only took from 2-7 million.
The only reason it hit so hard on it's biggest outbreak was because of a perfect storm scenario.

"Approximately half to a third of the entire population of medieval Europe were infected. Around 25 million people died because of it." ch1 page 8

This actually made me laugh. The author thinks 25 million was the European death toll? That's not even close to the European death toll. That's the Chinese death toll for the plague before it his Canstantinople! The total death count is an estimated 75 million–200 million people.

"Did you know it wasn't discovered until after 1926? [about the Black Death]" ch1, page 10

Yersinia pestis was discovered in 1894 and originally called Pasteurella pestis.

"Most rats carry some kind of disease". "Like Haemorrhagic virus, lymphs or Meningitis.... and why there's no way to cure it"

Ok, there's stuff wrong with this. I'm not going to go really deep into detail, but it's wrong on a few points. Maybe someone else could fill this in, as I'm too lazy to post all the virus' you can or can't get from rats, and if they are/aren't curable. Maybe even a statistic of rats, and how often they carry a disease (although I wouldn't really question that most rats have diseases. But you never know.)

ch3 page 9. "There is a comon structure of 4 chemical bases (in DNA). A, T, C, G... Is how they're written"

Correct! To further iterate, they are adenine (abbreviated A), thymine (T), cytosine © and guanine (G).

ch9 Page 14. Regarding Rat reproduction."The female goes into heat at four day intervals.Gestation takes around 21 days, and the kits can leave the nest in around 25 days." "The mother can immediately become pregnant again after birth (paraphrase)". "Each litter will have anywhere from one to eighteen kits". "Survivors can begin reproducing in under a month".

Mostly Correct! Females of breeding age come into heat all year round, every 4 to 5 days, unless they are pregnant or nursing. Each female usually has a regular schedule that can be marked on the calendar, but it can vary. Each heat usually begins in the evening and lasts most of the night (Interesting, considering how the nightshift's work)
The gestation period is normally 22 days, but can vary from 21 to 23 (and maybe even to 25). It takes about a month before the baby rats leave the nest.
An average rat litter is 10-12 pups. I don't know why the term "kit" is used. It's probably short for kitten (the UK and Australian term for a baby rat).
Male rats begin mating in 5 weeks, so that's a little OVER a month.

Miscellaneous facts not mentioned in the manga, but pertain to it.

Women tend to have colder hands than men. However, core body temperature is a COMPLETELY different issue. It's also one I won't go into, as it's irrelevant so far to the manga.

Black death well there is an antidote for this bacteria which has been developed and used in cases in america where the plague has come back.

Your death toll is about right

Your DNA is also correct

and i thought this would have been longer but its ok as im a scence nut but more the side of space and universe and theories such as speed of light but no one under stands it not even i who has been looking at it for a few weeks now -.- i will become one of the 40 ppl who understand it and well thats irrelevant and if you get more ill happy talk about them with you :D

About the cure, I'm actually unaware of any real, "cure" that works properly. The only one made (that I know of) was discontinued due to limited effectiveness and it causing severe inflammation.
So far, antibiotics, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, fluoroquinolones and tetracycline. work. There's also data to support the use of gentamicin or doxycycline.

The reason it isn't longer, is because I didn't want to go into theoretical "facts". If I wanted, I could have posted info about how his bone transformation and possibilities about the virus and how/why it mutates the way it does.
However, the series is still ongoing, so more info we've yet to see could come up.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about theoretical science, it just means I wanted to start this thread with real facts that are confirmed.

As for the speed of light, I suggest looking into Faster Than Light Travel. It's pretty interesting.

For rodent zoonotic diseases there are a few others, I will list the main ones:
  • Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is usually carried by mice Mus musculus, and it can be caught by humans through contact with a carriers urine/droppings/saliva, it can also be contracted through bites, open wounds and possibly by breathing in particles from litter. Humans can pass it on vertically (mother to unborn child) but not person to person. Symptoms if any are fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite and are usually mild. Can be fatal in the immunocompromised.
  • Leptospirosis is carried by rodents. Usually caught by contact with infected bodies of water.Untreated it can be fatal
  • Rodents can carry salmonella, its contracted through the faeces (usually diarrhoea). Salmonella causes gastroenteritis -food poisoning.
  • Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. (HPS) Is caused by a virus and can be very deadly. Contact with urine/droppings/saliva or breathing in aerosolised urine are the usual ways of catching it.Fatigue, muscle ache and fever are universal symptoms. May also be headaches, dizziness, abdominal problems, nausea, pain etc. Late symptoms (4-10 days) coughing and shortness of breath may occur as the lungs fill with fluid. With medical aid there is a good chance of survival, but with no specific treatment the death rate in the US is 36%.
  • Rat Bite Fever as the name implies this is a sickness caused by a bacterium usually streptobacillus. 7-10% of untreated cases leads to death.Symptoms are fever, muscle pain, joint pain, vomiting, headache and occurs within a couple of hours after the bite. Also a rash..
Also... around 15% of people who contract the plague today die even with treatment.

As for the manga, I like it for its story, im used to ignoring the 'facts' mangas often present
