Just killed a mosquito by grabbing it with one hand. Isn't as fun as a few years ago, I guess.

Mosquitoes never kill anyone. It's their little microbe friends(?) that do all the heartless murdering. Mosquitoes just want a little bit of your blood to feed their babies.
(...I do kill them, anyway, though >_> I am not so altruistic as to be happy about how mommy mosquito is nurturing her brood, under the circumstances. )

I've always wondered, are insects scared when they look at the dead bodies of others of the same species? Several walls of my house are plastered with mosquito remains, yet they are still everywhere...

Your house sounds terrifying.
Are dead bodies scary without context, though? If I was a little kid and hadn't worked out the whole mortality thing yet, would I be scared if I saw a bunch of dead bodies lying around or would I just think they were sleeping (notwithstanding the therapy that I might then need later in life)?
And how good is a mosquito's eyesight? Can they tell that that's what those specks are?

They get squished right next to one another :/

(there are relatively few bugs, pests, and/or dangerous/annoying animals where I live so my tolerance for them has turned out pretty low XD)

I usually ignore the bugs, but waking up and feeling a crawl on your back is pretty scary no matter who you are, methinks.
