apparently according to that big-ass yellow banner on the main page the batoto domain is for sale? so technically if someone here were to buy it, they can continue running the site right? all it needs is the private data nuke, and an existing admin that has the manga backups, right?

To all non-technical people:
 
It's probably worth mentioning that buying the domain will not get you the site's contents.
Just the ability to have "https://vatoto.com/" point to your own site.
 
If someone buys the domain and sets up a new manga hosting site, they'd have a real edge in becoming "the next Batoto" since everyone's links will already point to the site. (Even more so if they somehow're using Bato.to's old manga database, but I wouldn't count on that, more likely everything'll just get re-uploaded over time by some people or other)

TL;DR the domain is just the name, not the site. So don't get your hopes up too high.

I mean TBH this seems like the most likely outcome to me. Usually domains are worth more to sketchy folks than to the likes of ourselves. Not sure what Grumpy is thinking, but it's his horse and he can shoot it however he wants to.

It's also sad that the posted sell-by dates seems to mean the potential grace period for the Batoto forums staying up is only a week? (EDIT: Nvm, updates to the closure announcement explain how that will work)

Anything goes at this point. I'm still worried about the forums though. Will "vatato" get merged with the new batoto at some point or stay seperate? Only time will tell, I guess.

Edit: Nevermind, I read the annoucement post again. Looks like it's going to stay seperate from the new batoto.
