So for a few days I've been unable to view newer releases because it says either CDN LAX or failed to load image if I have extensions or scripts enabled... I have tried three different browsers, shutting down, turning off extensions and scripts to no avail. No idea what's going on...

I'd suspect that the image traffic will be extra heavy for the next week, as people read stuff they've been putting off, people with off-line readers try to cache content, and (some?) people try to locally archive content they want to read.
