I'm looking for LGBT+ manga to read ^_ ^

I'm not really interested in manga that's strictly romance, though. Madoka Magica is the best example I can give that sums up all of my interests pretty well. Devilman is up there, too. I really just want to read some manga that features gay/lesbian/etc characters, but isn't melodramatic or romance-focused. I'd be glad to read an adventure manga if the main character was canonly gay, even if he never has an explicit relationship with other guys over the course of the story.

So nothing romance-driven... I can find good shounen/shoujo ai just by searching for it. But casually LGBT+ characters just kinda existing and doin' stuff is a bit harder, haha. Of course, romance sub-plots aren't off-limits. More grand stories like HxH or Houseki no Kuni are also an interest of mine. Thanks for any help!

  • Okama Hakusho (an old one. it's more of a gag manga and follows drag queens. still somewhat romance focused, but i'd say not your usual shounen ai)
  • Hanayome wa Motodanshi (autobiographical. following a guy who wants to be a woman)
  • Bokura no Hentai (3 boys doing cross-dressing for different reasons: one is actually gay, one is trans and one is not doing it volunteraly, if i remember correctly. there's some romance side plot involved, but the story rather illustrates the different reasons for cross-dressing and how the boys deal with it)
  • Yuureitou/Ghost Tower (that's more of an adventuresque manga. one of the main characters is trans)
  • Shishunki Bitter Change (it's not exactly LGBT+, i guess? it's about a boy and a girl accidentally swapping bodies and staying in the other party's body for several years and how they cope with it. there's also some romance involved which is making it somewhat LGBT+, e.g. the girl who is now in a male body falls in love with a guy... it's still ongoing so i can't tell, where this is heading to ^^)
  • IS - Otoko demo Onna demo Nai Sei (haven't read it yet, so can't tell much. as far as i know; it's about intersexual teens who have to decide on wether they want to stay inter or become male/female and how they struggle with that decision)
  • Yubisaki Milk Tea (Cross-dressing guy, who's not gay though. It's more like an escape from reality for him since he's struggeling with puberty? I don't really remember anymore. it's been years since i read this one xD)

I don't want to derail your thread and I don't wanna be an ass but I do not remember anything like that in Madoka. Like

Spoiler

So in conclusion it's just an anime/a manga with female MCs imo.

Spoiler

Apparently... Not what you are searching for but I enjoyed Prunus Girl quite a bit.

"The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself."  --  Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Revolutionary Girl Utena is good!! There's a good chance youve heard of it already but if not it features an interracial lesbian relationship (the two main girls) and a lot of interesting storytelling+themes. It's not as 'grand' as hunterxhunter or hnk but it's still a good watch.
