When loading the front page or one of the comic pages, there is a delay on about 1-5 second from the page is displayed until one can browse it. On my phone it's especially severe, where the page freezes for a very 

 

I have the issue both on cellular connection, on mobile, on broadband, home and at work. The actual comic reading and the forums are not affected, but every comic page and so are. I am located in Sweden.

It was pretty okay today at work but on the cellphone over the work WiFi it’s the same. I haven’t clocked it but it’s like 5 seconds before you can browse, before the ads appear.

I think it may be related (or similar) to that case when some ads started using a script (that supposedly checked if the ad was safe and stuff, tho it probably was a pretext for some additional ad personalisation) that either was lazily coded or was disliked by some browsers and as such was causing some temporary browser freeze. not sure if grumpeh managed to mass block these then in the end; you could try fillling some reports in the annoying ads pinned thread (ads from ad networks tend to be at least filtered by your location/country nowadays so grumpy won't know what you're getting unless you tell him) and mention you get the lag with them.

So, I was having the same issue for the past couple of days. With the help of chrome page profiler I discovered that a huge page loading bottleneck is introduced by the script "browserfp.min.js". I don't know what the purpose of the script is, quick google search didn't show anything informative, but blocking the script with AdBlock seems to solve the freezing problem. Could someone from developers look into this?

^ that's a spamanalyst script attached to an ad, i.e. the same issue I mentioned the above.

 

please report stuff in the annoying ads thread (necessary report data is mentioned in the opening post + mention it's the spamanalyst script that's the problem)
