Even though "Arte" is classified as a historical manga, the first 37 chapters (plus 2 bonus chapters) are --save for one lone instance-- completely devoid of any specific historical references whatsoever.

 

Then came Chapter 38:

Hmm... haven't done one of these in a while.  :P

 

 

The girls talk about hair in Chapter 51 --or rather, it's Veronica talking to Arte about her hair:

The prescribed remedy mentioned in the manga comes directly from this excerpt from Giovanni Marinello, "Gli ornamenti delle donne" (1562).  So, yes, it is historically accurate.
