I don't know if this is fridge horror or just a "duh" kind of thing to bring up but....Maine is totally dead isn't she? I mean for starters, no matter what happened to her, someone else took over her body. The memories of the girl named "Maine" still remain but the identity and personality clearly do not. For all intents and purposes Maine is dead and her body has been possessed by a ghost from another world (since Urano also died). But this also got me thinking: when Urano woke up in Maine's body she seemed to have had a pretty bad fever, and in the extra chapter her family talks about how they were never sure when she might die, but that she has been getting healthier lately. Did Maine maybe die before Urano even possessed her? Did she die of her fever, then have her corpse get reanimated when Urano entered it? Either way this is kinda fucked up, but in my (albeit very brief) scan of the comments section I didn't see any mention of it. Did anyone else find this kinda horrifying?

As for my understanding, Maine is probably sort of reincarnation of Urano, but rather than Urano completely erased Maine, its more likely they "merged".
Since it's a merge of 5 years old and 22 years old, the "new" Maine mostly influenced by Urano, but still retain part of "original" Maine.
My reason:

1. Before Urano's memory emerges, Maine frequently dreamed being a healthy girl living in a mysterious country (Japan).
2. During the course of the story (especially in novel, since the manga still not too far), there are several time Maine show childish personality unfitting

someone with adult's memory, but pretty natural considering her physical age.

3. There are also many times other characters comment that her personality really resembles her father (Gunther).

4. This one is pretty specific : later in the story there is one event that show us how difference is if Maine only has Urano personality vs the Maine we have now (which is sort of Original Maine+Urano).

That is just her pulling excuse. Or just want to be persuasive. I will act childish as well if im in her situation just to be persuasive, to avoid secrutiny. Because if you act like 22 as 7 year old nobody will take you seriously, untill latter of 2nd part when only one of the main character treat her as 22 years old till the end of the story. I dont believe she have her father personality since maine is deceptive while her father is dead honest.
