I keep getting ERROR [10004] everywhere I try to read a serie for some reason, even after doing all the suggestions mentioned that could have been the cause.

Could this be an issue or some kind of new policy I don't know about? I would be really thankful for an explanation or help.

What series / chapters? I'll look into them for you.

I assume "all the suggestions mentioned" include:

  • clearing cache/batoto cookies
  • disabling addons
  • making sure sending referer header is enabled
  • trying with a different browser

?

Happens to me as well, only when I click chapters from my RSS feed, though. Seems like eager referer policy to me.

EDIT: after looking more into the issue with batoto's RSS feed it seems that it produces HTTP links, not https ones. Why it's bad? Scripts on direct HTTP pages may produce XHR calls to HTTPS resources. Some browsers and/or combinations of addons will abort them because it's both unsecure and plainly stupid.

FURTHERMORE - similiar situaction occurs the other way as well - HTTPS pages loads unsecure HTTP resources. See: https://i.imgur.com/BvZggI3.png. It's called mixed content and it's bad.

This may be wrong place to say these, but please infor your code magicians to look into it.

It'll also happen if there is something that changes the user-agent string.

Not certain if it happens when your IP changes (dynamic IP from your rsp or switching VPN)

AFAIK there's been no https for comics (and on the front page) because of ads. Haven't heard of anything changing in regard to that. You shouldn't be getting redirected to https on these.

Got the same problem here. My browser suddenly updated itself to it's final form and now everywhere I go it's a [10004] error. Hell, even the webm from other sites give me trouble now.

Tried everything mentioned here and nothing has worked.

I believe it may be the new browser not being adapted yet to everything, but I'll keep trying just in case.

(BTW, if you were wondering, I'm using firefox which recently updated to firefox quantum)

Nope, none of them:

  • Closed the browser and cleared all the cache and cookies, yet the problem remained
  • Disabled the 2 add-ons that remained on the browser after the change, yet the problem remained
  • Checked the referer with about:config and turned out it was already enabled at value 2, yet the problem remained
  • And as for a different browser, I don't have one since I got all my things in firefox, moving them is an enormous pain and the whole point of this asking for help is to fix the browser that I'm using... so as you may have guessed, the problem remained

My guess is that it will eventually fox itself once firefox quantum gets some updated and/or fixes after some time has passed, but I still want to try all that I can before throwing the towel.

edit: *BREAKING NEWS*

It seems to have fixed itself once I did some moving and tinkering through my browser, but thing is: I'm not sure as to what of all the things that I did fixed the damn problem, so I'm gonna run some tests to check what was causing the issue and report back to this forum.

Hmm... I'm having the same issue on Waterfox as well as Pale Moon (both Firefox forks). Could be something to do with my extensions but it is uncertain.

However, I found everything to be working perfectly on Iridium. The joys of using three browsers.
