I'm going to put it this way: if it were me instead of Maki, this would be Yaoi not Shonen Ai.

Me too

By the way who cares if he is a boy or not, if you fall for someone you fall for somone the gender doesn't matter ()
I think i'd probably fall for him

No. I'm straight. Penis is a deal-breaker. No exceptions.

Let's put it this way: You go to a bakery and you see some pies on display. One of them happens to look particularly appetizing. You patiently wait your turn and you purchase it. You take it home. You begin to cut a slice but find that it's plastic. You don't eat plastic.

Let's recreate that scenario but alter the situation a bit: You go out for a drink and you see some "women" obviously dressed to impress. You happen to find one of them particularly attractive. You flirt and succeed, eventually spending money on dates and presents. You finally convince "her" to spend the night. You get in the mood and, as you're undressing "her", you see the bulge... You don't like penis.

Sex may not matter to you, but you are not the only human in existence. Suggesting that it doesn't matter to anyone else is ignorant. You may be a male who likes penis or a female who likes vagina but not all are.

First of, since it's relevant to the topic: I'm heterosexual. As heterosexual as it gets.

But Aikawa? I have no problems thinking of him as a girl with a penis. If he's really a guy (and I'm pretty much 50/50 on that, only half convinced), I'd have no problem going out with him as long as "that" stays out of sight... and I could probably learn dealing with that part as well.

Especially if I'd get along with him as good as Maki does.

Yes, yes, TetsuDan, I get it . . . in thread after thread you've found it very important to make extremely clear that you are as straight as a surveyor's laser with no nasty gravity-lensing anywhere near. Indeed, it seems you seek out gender-bending manga just so you can emphasize how that kind of thing isn't to your taste and how annoying it is that writers of gender-bending manga about ambiguous sexuality don't cater to the possibility of readers whose sexuality is as straight as the platonic ideal of a line. Also yuri manga so you can complain about the prevalence of man-hating in them. I'm sure we're all highly impressed by your amazing rigidity. Nope, no bends, no curves, very, very, very straight. Got it.

What's funny is I have 93 forum posts (as proven by the stats directly under my avatar) across 25 threads and I'm quite sure even more review section comments (>100 comments, probably something like ~30 review sections) but a grand total of, and I'm being generous here, 9 instances of so much as hinting at my sexual preference. A grand total of two forum threads and two manga review sections make up all the possible "threads" I have ever mentioned said preference. If you do the math, which isn't hard, you'll find "thread after thread" to be a ridiculous exaggeration. Try hard.

Your accusations are false. I seek out gender-bender manga because they're amusing. I tend to find social awkwardness entertaining. I also have a habit of making note of things most people ignore. I don't believe I've ever left a review or comment on a yuri manga's page, yet... Nope, nothing comes to mind. I usually avoid those such manga, entirely.

While I'm pleased you've taken the time out of your day to address me, personally, I'm disappointed that you've completely dismissed the valid point that was raised. All while refusing to actually do the research before coming here to do nothing but bad-mouth me with childish sarcasm.

So, would you care to spice things up a bit by actually offering something intelligent to the discussion or was your entire purpose here to make a complete jackass of yourself?

... I'm not even going to bother explaining how fallacious that is.

You don't need to explain how fellatious it would be either, despite how fitting it would be to the topic.

Just the same, you didn't need to post that comment... but you did, anyway. Let's not be hypocrites.

Ignoring the hypocrisy for a moment, I think most people started to read this because it's romance/gender bender, and because they were actually expecting that Aikawa was a girl (whoever knows the anime "Futarigurashi" knows exactly what we expected
Spoiler
). I want to see if I'm right, since I skipped most of the chapters after chapter 20+ since it was pointless to continue reading things that could leave a disgusting aftertaste if Aikawa is really a boy. Just hoping here for a nice ending in the "dream world" like in Futarigurashi for Maki and not a trip to "another world" xD

P.S.: Not a chance to fall for a trap, since you can always check their ID for security (because only the actual genetic gender is allowed to be stated on the ID)!

I don't particularly mind if Aikawa is male or female, at all, really. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be attracted to Aikawa either way, not only because I'm already in love with someone but also because ambiguity is a major turn-off for me. I like the character as a character, only slightly as a person (because Aikawa chooses to be ambiguous and I find that deceptive, when he/she could easily say "it's none of your business" and be done with it), but definitely not as a romantic interest.

I hope that calms at least a few presumptuous waters.

I had a friend back in highschool who was trans, and to put it basically, there were more people that thought she was female than anything else. Not goin to lie, at first i was attracted to her (i say her because i understand that gender is different than sex) until i found out she had a penis. Never thought any less of her as a friend because she really was a great friend, but for me, the attraction wasn't there. I know some people have said "gender/sex doesn't matter if you really like the person" but to me it does matter. It's one thing to be attracted to femininity, and it's another to be attracted to females. with a case like Aikawa's, there would eventually be too much that would remind of his sex, regardless of how feminine he is. Just in case it's not clear, i have no problem with anyone else's sexual preference, or fetish either. i have just stated mine.

Its hard answering this question without doubting your sexuality as a guy... but im gonna have to say possibly on the basis that he/she is mostly female in my eyes it would be hard getting past it though but that would be another battle in it self

Its been over a year since i started reading this and finally going back and finishing the last chapters and growing up. I can for sure say i would go after aikawa boy parts or not. I much prefer girls but feminine boys like aikawa are great too.

Just read this series. Was very cute and made me laugh a lot. These reaction faces are priceless.

And to answer the question... yes I would fall for this trap. He's just too cute. And as many said already, if you like someone, that kind of stuff doesn't matter; might be because sex isn't important to me anyway.
