as NibbPower said, if the scanlator/uploader doesn't want the volume number, it's up to them. technically magazine scans shouldn't get one at all costs in the first place because it can lead to number guessing and different groups releasing same chapters as being from different volumes
not necessary; that is - volume can be taken into consideration in Sorting ID but it can be added there manually, leaving the volume field itself blank. the uploader here did just that, it seems (or someone edited it in later). Go to the full post »maybe if the chapters aren't in order

Just my personal opinion, it's not necessary to have volume numbers. I mean, maybe if the chapters aren't in order but usually if the group doesn't want to use volume numbers, it's up to them, really.
