A carnivore. That's the only thing that matters right now.

Also, Legosi knew because of the love letter Tem didn't give (Chapter 1).

Well the murder itself is a catalyst to the story. Its not the big mystery of the series.

But Its a carnivore and a classmate of Tem's that has done it .

ok so, first, the thing about legosi knowing because of Tem's letter not being given to that alpaca girl... in th same chapter there are frames where Tem talks about how he still couldnt muster up the courage to give it to her and that the timing wasnt right. it having not been sent doesnt necessarily indicate "so much he wanted to do", but, im more asking how it was that legosi quoted almost word for word what Tem said before death. not that legosi couldnt have just said it by coincidence. i just find that the wording could be important.

about the murder however, i think you are underestimating its importance. i think it is no coincidence that it was a student of the drama club that was killed. students that we have already discovered, all have some sort of struggle or problem beyond the norm, and have been selected as members specifically because of this unique trait. I think speculation about this murder AND who committed it are vastly more important than the simple "carnivore killed an herbivore" dynamic. it makes you wonder doesnt it? its a very shocking thing to have happen. it sets up the story, and yet, almost 16 chapters in its almost being ignored. I think this murder is far more important that you might realize.

you are right in part Larkanite, it isnt "the big mystery of the series". it is, in fact, THE ONLY mystery of the series. aside from character information that we have yet to gain through exposition or interaction, it is the only event that we know of that has a giant cause and effect, with serious ramifications, and yet we know not who is responsible. i think it would be foolish to assume the murder is not a mystery of note, or that the identity of the killer is unimportant to the plot.  it might be less important for the moment, due to the need to introduce characters and their day to day lives, but make no mistake. it is definitely important.....or so i think.

your other point, about it being a classmate, do you mean graduating class, or drama club members? i guess it could be an extra-curricular activity, but does kind of function as a class doesnt it? i cant remember just now which it is stated as.

First off, Tem did not SAY that before his death. He THOUGHT that. Legosi said that for dramatic effect.

Sure the murder is important, but in Chapter 7, it clearly shows that the other students besides Legosi and Louis don't want to touch the subject of Tem's death. A manga reader would want to know the truth behind the mystery, but the characters in this manga are just trying to live school life despite such a horrible incident. This manga is simply trying to portray living school life with distrust and unease. I think it's totally fine that way. There is probably going to be more room for theories in the later chapters, but not now. Not enough info.

Also, as I pointed out in another post, Tem referred to Carnivore X as his classmate whom he'd always have class together with. Class, as in the classroom class.

Well... We have a bit more info now.

First... motive. Is there any? We have carnivores in the troupe. Would they be hoping to take place as lead actor? It might be too obvious. Perhaps there is more subtle motive or other, more personal. So far, little information on that was given.

Next, was the killer carnivore?

At first, I considered idea that murder could be done by herbivore with mental disorder that makes them think or imitate carnivores. In fact, I considered possibility that Louis could be murderer with his strange untold past that may kill his reputation if it becomes known. However, there is a problem.
Would it be possible for herbivore to attack another herbivore at night, when they have weak vision at night as their biology suggests? We have no idea of technological advances that may suggest there are night vision goggles and it is high tech stuff by modern standards.

Consider this. We have carnivores who do not shy away from possibility to taste meat. We also have ambitious ones, who have goals of greatness. Signs point to carnivores. So far...

and finally, the murder is now the focus. i knew it would be in time, and i knew it would be sooner rather than later. so now we know that the murderer needs to be caught, and the beastar will be elected off of the discovery of this person. i wonder if they will incorporate framing to fool people into believing that some innocent carnivore is the killer? perhaps a grab for power that the beastar position represents? or perhaps our shy hero will stumble into the spotlight? the female wolf (julia, june? cant remember her name) seems a likely target for such a setup, and potentially the culprit as well. perhaps they will have legosi discover the culprit only for him to attempt to cover it up due to his relationship to them. his friendly dog friend? there is no more information than last we asked this question, only that the mystery will be answered soon. feel free to speculate though. i know i will.

"The murderer is herbivore" theory..

First, open your mind.. this is a world of animal that act and formed like human being.. The story have show us what a herbivore capable to do in this beastar world... they can use weapon, they can eat meat (if they need to), anything more is possible..

here some speculation :
Theory 1.) he might kill Tem because of personal problem and accidentally kill him, and to make it that he less suspected,he perish the evidence by eating the corpse, so people could assume that the killer is a carnivore..

Theory 2.) the motive is the herbivore and carnivore society, he want to corner the carnivore, make them look bad in society, so that the herbivore could live better or to make herbivore more aware of carnivore, and don't get along too close each other.. Because he hate the world where herbivore get too close with their predators..
so he make several incident of "herbivore killed by carnivore"
by make people think that the killer is carnivore.. he could do it by eat the corpse, he could use artificial claws and fang (even the manga showed us that the lion do surgery to make him look friendly so the opposite would possible), he could just leave the claw mark intentionally on the victim body, so people would suspect the carnivore and malign the carnivore..

Theory 3) To make the story intresting, the murderer is herbivore..
our MC is a Wolf, Like..
"would you believe if a wolf telling you that the one who kill your alpaca is a mere sheep?"
So if the killer is herbivore, it'll be more crazy and harder to proof it, even if Legosi sure know he's the killer, could he explain it to the society?? the mangaka can show us how cunning the murderer, and how hard to handle society is..

Slight Spoilers from chapters 59-60.

a fine idea. herbivore theory is entirely possible. its further strengthened by the most recent chapter with the silhouetted villain. he used his head to attack legosi 2 times, headbutting him. animals that do this usually have horns. we cant read into this too much, as the humanistic nature of the animals could include regular headbutts, but personally i think the fact that it was used as a preemptive strike means the animal is confident in its strength. it could indicate a horned species. also, the attacker didnt use claws or teeth at any point.

what we know:
*uses its head to attack
*is physically large or heavy
*has very large shoes
*is quite strong (enough to lift and swing legosi into the wall with one arm)
*was close enough to legosi during the previous chapter to know that he suspects someone in the drama club as the murderer
*knows he had a cold and couldnt use his sense of smell
*probably thinks legosi is gay now (his first kiss!)

some things to keep in mind:
*omnivores exist
*headbutts are used by both predators and prey with horns or solid heads
*he or she may not be hunting alone
*the attacker may not be the one who killed tem
*the attacker may not be someone we know or have seen

i look forward to seeing how it develops.

the only large breed carnivores in the drama club that resemble the attacker is either the panther or the bear. Probably the bear since the attacker was huge and can pin legosi down with one foot
