Hey guys,

Unfortunately it seems like this has turned into an ever-lasting discussion. As the comment section is not the place to have it, I made this thread to answer some of your questions.

1) Why the obnoxious stamps (leaves, memes, animals etc) in the background in addition to the group stamp?

Spoiler

2) Why are the obnoxious stamps on bato.to and the forum version as well? I thought coming here would enable me to read them without those!

Spoiler

3) I hate stamps! I won't read this!

Spoiler

4) Why should I buy the manga if it's not available in my own language or one I understand (i.e. Japanese or Chinese)?

Spoiler

5) I can't spend all that money on buying all the books of the series!

Spoiler

6) I've got an idea on how you could forego the obnoxious stamps!

Spoiler

7) How can I contact CRS?

Spoiler

8) (Not a question but a statement :P ) We give out obnoxious stamp free versions of our releases to those of you that can prove they bought the Japanese original.

Spoiler

9) I've got another question about this scanlation!

Spoiler

Is it possible to make the watermark more transparent...? The current transparency makes it hard to see the lines/details on some of the panels

I'll check it out and see if I can decrease the opacity by a few percent without making the stamps easy to remove by 3rd parties. Though I must say, it's not more or less transparent than, for example, the stamps on raffmanga. Also, people who can prove to us that they bought the original Japanese version can get a much cleaner version for their private reading. ;)

Thank you for your comment on here. I appreciate your neutral tone and your not bitching around like so many butt-hurt people out there. LOL

In fact, I believe she would be overjoyed that someone's as dedicated as we are and on top of it not giving people an excuse to forego buying the official release. You're forgetting something essential: The people who buy the manga can get the cleaner copy from us. And another thing you're forgetting: except for the stamps, our releases are close on par with official publisher releases. So I suggest you question yourself more. Because what people like you want, is a perfect quality manga without having to pay a cent for it or do any work on it. You get to read the manga and get a feel for whether you like it or not thanks to our release. We are not doing this for you and others to avoid buying the manga. And nothing else is what you're actually looking for. If you love the manga, then buy it and stop whining that people will not bend over backwards to give you free stuff of high quality to cater to your selfishness. Higher Japanese sales numbers mean a higher chance of an English publisher picking it up. And, again thanks to our release, you've got no excuse that you cannot read the manga if it's in Japanese. Tbh, I'm sick and tired of the pure leecher-mentality that has taken hold among readers.People like this are the reason many great mangas got axed and/or will never be picked up in another language.

I'm just posting here because I thought of something and wanted to give some feedback.

First of all, thank you for choosing to scanlate this manga, I really liked it, and am looking forward to reading it as it more chapters come out. Also, I didn't know about the manga hosting mafia business that is there (though it wasn't hard to imagine it, considering how fast stuff come out on it and the how their support service works), so, thank you as well for the heads up.

In regards to the watermarks it's completely understandable and you have my personal support, but throughout the pages it really ruins some great moments in the story, and just lowering the opacity won't be enough to take away the monstrous distraction it can be, specially in big panels without dialogue where the author wants to convey the character's feelings mostly through their expression. But just criticism without any suggestion is mostly crap that ends up forgotten, so I have a suggestion:

One thing you could do is to not put the mark on every page, but I don't think that's the best way to keep the much needed shoutout present without ruining the reading experience; You could also lower the opacity of the watermark, but that can make it harder to read, or be too easy to remove (so no good); The best thing in my opinion is to instead of positioning it right on the middle of every page, resize and keep it on a specific panel in every page so it still gets attention while not destroying some of the most emotional moments like in page 49 of the first chapter, where the watermark really kills the mood (it could've been put on one of the first panels of the page and it would still work).

I'm not sure if this is the best solution, and I don't know how much extra work that'd be, but I think it's worth experimenting with and I wish you guys the best. Thanks again for picking this manga up, otherwise I would've never heard of it.

Edit: Grammar. Sorry, english is not my mother language.

Thank you for your comment. We really appreciate the constructive tone!
For the next release, we’ve lowered the opacity of the stamp by 5% and moved the layer below the type-set layers to increase the readability. Hopefully, that will fix some of the issues people have brought to our attention.
The thing about our stamps is that we do not simply put them there because of our gripes with the hoster mafia.
While this is indeed one of the main reasons we feel forced to use them, there is another really important motive: watermarks are less threatening to official publishers. This means that neither the Japanese publishers are prone to request take-downs or take cease-to-scanlate actions, nor any English language publisher that might be interested in or already picked up the manga to release officially.
The watermarks will always "downgrade" the quality and this makes it more attractive for people to buy the original – be that either the Japanese or English version. Sadly, the majority of manga-readers have ceased entirely to buy the original manga; after all, if they get 100% quality for free, why should they spend the money on the original? We always count on our readers’ good will and integrity so the mangaka who work so hard get support, but we fear we are often disappointed. Thanks to people buying less and less manga, many titles even get axed in Japan and/or never picked up by English language publishers.
That is not what we actually want by scanlating. The manga scene in Japan is only so big because people really spend money on them there. The people who create manga have to live off of the money they make from the sales... So, we have to remember to be fair to them. They issue take-down notices when they feel threatened that the scanlation will stop people from buying the original – and that would be the case if we were to release without the watermarks. With the watermarks on the pages, chances are way lower that publishers will request take-downs, so that's a definite win for all those who absolutely cannot afford to buy the manga. They'll still have the opportunity to read it, just not as nicely as they could the bought version. Seeing as how libraries in the West do not stock manga like they'd do in Japan, there's no good "free" or "open domain" way to read them if you're poor, so this seems like a fair and good way to meet in the middle. Based on our scanlation you can decide if you like the manga. If you do and want to enjoy the artwork fully, then you can buy the original.
We are sharing copies with only a tiny group stamp on a few pages with those who can prove they bought the Japanese version. So there definitely is a way to get a “nicer” version with less obstructive stamps.

As a little info for those of you who would like to continue reading our releases now that batoto is shutting down:

For now, we will keep on posting them as a .rar compressed file downloadable on either solidfiles or mediafire. You can find the links on our forum page (http://s15.zetaboards.com/cookierevolution/index/) once you're logged in (a security measure to keep some of the scraper-bots off). We were hoping a new batoto follow-up would have been created by now, so we could point readers there, but unfortunately that is not the case. We hope that in the future this will be a thing again. We're currently looking into options such as discord server publishing and imgur albums to create another option that does not require downloading the files for those who prefer not to.. But we still haven't fully worked that out. If you would like to keep up to date, please follow us on either facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Cookie-Revolution-Scans-1853866834872460/ ) or on discord (https://discordapp.com/invite/RYK9SPZ). Since facebook algorithms are sort of weird these days, I'd recommend discord. You can mute all channels except for our announcement channel, so that you only receive a ping when we post a new release or something like that.

I would be happy to see you around!

I wish you all the best and hopefully see you in the future,
