To be honest, I don't have high hopes for Yakumo x Yamato-kun ship.

This feels like one of those manga where it will only give you the feels.

I'm quite happy though coz' the story is so fluffy and cute but

I will hold my feelings for now when it's so obvious they don't have

any romantic development at all   (for now.. I hope so...

just a nice onee-chan x ototo relationship.

I don't want to feel betrayed by expecting so much..

But I hope I'm wrong. Lol. I'm so cunning.   :batoto_015:

I'm not hoping this, I am just trying to read the direction of the manga.  EVER SO SLOOOOOOOWLY, they are getting a little closer and a little closer, and right now he sees her as a big sister.  But this is the only girl he does anything with.  I can see him falling for her bit by bit, and her being vulnerable after losing her husband.  Not sure how the author will take this, but he SEEMS to be going towards an eventual coupling, even if it is mostly platonic and just a bit romantic.

Don't count your chickens before the eggs hatch. That one manga where his mother was a mangaka and she hired the beer drinking lady comes to mind. The mangaka stuck right in the reader's pooper right at the very end with the switcheroo childhood friend route.

I can't really see it so far. More likely route atm is she finds fulfillment in organizing or joining a booster club for the baseball team and helps organize meals for them, etc. She has coping issues with her husband dying and feeding him like a puppy keeps her mind off things and gives her something to do. Yamato-kun clearly has little else on his mind than baseball and normal school stuff. It wouldn't be a very healthy relationship, and its kinda creepy if you tried to think of the reverse of this situation to put it into perspective.

I'm gonna jump in here. While I am keeping a healthy amount of skepticism, I can see the two of them ending up together. Yamato is clearly becoming more and more conscious of Yakumo, but he is also a sensible young man and knows that she is still in mourning for her dead husband. While it appears that this is just an "out" for Yakumo to be able to find someone to take care of, which fits her personality and she seems to be used to, there are also those moments where Yamato fills her mind. She may not have much to do on a daily basis, but for her to be thinking about him as much as she does implies a more intimate connection than just "taking care of a puppy". While he reminds her of her husband somewhat, as she gets to know him more and more, they're growing closer bit by bit and she's starting to see him for who he is. She has been mourning her husband for years now, her fixation on that is what isn't healthy, and this interaction with Yamato is helping her. Basically, I think it'll happen sooner or later. He's certainly not going to end up with Rui, he clearly isn't interested.

That age gap is so big, and they're in drastically different places emotionally. I enjoy their interactions but I'm not hoping they end up together. I do think for right now they are perfect for each other. As long as they don't add in an obnoxious love rival or something I'm fine whatever direction it takes.

Guys, there are basically three types of romance mangas, the outright mature stuff where sex and relationship happen quickly, the youthful schooldays romance where it is like 50%/50% and stuff like this where there is no chance in hell that something will happen. I am willing to put money on nothing happening between them.

Earlier on I assumed it wasn't romance at all.  More and more as time passes the more hints there are that something more will develop.

Indeed! I was very dissapointed at that because I really thought that they have both mutual feelings but then in the end, I was left hanging. That's why I'm very cautious of this manga since I don't wanna hate this great creation. Ughh.. o(╯□╰)o

It would be rage inducing if they don't. They spend all this screen time together for nothing? What's the point of this then? It shouldn't happen immediately but not happening it all is just trolling.

I can see it happening .

Age difference is ok, 10 years or so ? You see others couple in manga with 20 y difference sometime.

As long as both love eachother and are ok with a romantic relationship, it's good.

But i don't mind if he end with Rui. Poor girl, what would she do without Yamato.

This is normal in europe though. A woman guilty of something instead appologizing to the other side she then grab random stranger and treat him nicely. There is no love build up over the time. The woman just one to feel good while the stranger just want to get his free stuff.

Nope, age difference is too big.  He's not winding up with Rui, either.  It'll either be a dark horse third character who hasn't been introduced yet, or no resolution.

My wife is 5 years older than me, and we've been married 33 years.  One of my very best friends is married to a girl that is 21 years his junior.  They have been married for 27 years.  The 11 year age gap in this manga is not an insurmountable hurdle.

That said, at the rate they are going, I'll be celebrating my 50th anniversary before they get to 1st base!

Thirteen, not eleven.  And while that age difference is difficult but possible in some cases at 25 and 38, it's pretty much unclimbable at 15 and 28.

That ending seriously pissed me off...

Unfortunately, I see this going the route of they have moments here and there and then a very open ending:

Like, a time jump,

the door rings,

Yakumo-san says, "just a minute,"

answers door,

"oh, you're early,"

and the last thing we see is a silhouette of someone.

I really hope that I am wrong though :)
