This springboarded my adoration for the author of the series, Watarai Keiji, for being so bizarre and distinct. Although it's dumbly stupid a lot of the time (with a whole lotta toilet humor), it's also a highly interesting examination of human relationships, the source of ambition, and having direction in life. One of those very rare stories about idols that ISN'T a starry-eyed, overly-optimistic, yuri-teasing thing. And it's ALSO not stupidly dark. In spite of the absurdity, it feels real. It's got a big thumb's up from me.
