Introduction

For as long as time could remember, the continent of Revea was united under the prosperous rule of the Alidan Emperors. However, over a century ago, when Alidan Typhon took the throne, a reign of tyranny the likes that never have been seen before, had began. The young emperor abused and exploited his people, using the accursed Anathema to keep the population in line and crushed any who rose against him. So great was Typhon's hubris, that he even challenged the gods, believing himself to be their better.

His evil ways were not meant to last, for heroes arose from all  over Revea. Wielding ancient relics and all-powerful abilities, they each lead whole armies against the hordes of atrocities that had served Typhon. The eight heroes were,

 

Yar, the Dragon of the Rainbow,

Shingen, the Crimson Knight,

Gurthal, the Lion from the North,

Tarsaiq, the Bravest of the Heroes,

Ilufar, the Arrow of Certain Death,

Tzianxithe, Son of Heaven,

Kisha, the Grand Alchemist

and Perephon, the Master of a Thousand Spells.

 
After a bloody struggle that lasted over many years, the heroes had finally broke through Typhon's defenses and forced him to a wall. Alas, despite their efforts, the heroes were robbed of their final triumph. The mad tyrant, loath to admit defeat, decided to destroy himself together with his empire instead, cursing the lands that stretched miles around it.
 
With Alidan Typhon defeated, the peace that many had given up their lives for, still did not return to Revea. With their common enemy no more, the heroes turned to each other, establishing their own countries out of what was left from the fallen empire. A series of ever escalating wars were waged with the ambition to one day become the one true ruler of the entire continent.

 
Premise

Actually, the story doesn't end there. Preoccupied with this long lasting struggle for power and dominance, many had forgotten of the tyranny brought about by Alidan Typhon. None were aware that his supposed defeat several years ago, was merely a ploy he had, to deceive the world. Typhon not only possessed overwhelming power and influence, but also extraordinary foresight and a cunning that was second to none. He knew that continuing to face the eight heroes would lead to his eventual defeat. To hand them this temporary victory was a sacrifice he deemed necessary.

 
In the ruins of his fallen empire, the essence of Alidan Typhon continued to linger. It was scarce and thinly spread, but over the course time, had accumulated enough to have caused some sort of influence towards a select few amongst the Anathema. If you had not figured it out yet, you are one of them.
 
By now, you must be wondering who the Anathema really are. Well, once upon a time, before there was even the Alidan Empire, there existed a mortal tribe which rebelled against and even attempted to kill a god. For this crime they were cursed and transformed into grotesque beasts, forever banished to live as outcasts in the secluded forests of Revea. During the reign of Emperor Typhon, Anathema returned to the heartland of Revea, and stories of their atrocities are still told to this day. With the tyrant gone, they were again shunned by the world.

Loyal to Typhon only, others are just means to achieve her motive of putting Typhon back in charge and begin another golden age.

 

History: 

The history of Gorgons is a long and amusing one. One of the most feared Anathema elites under the Alidan Command, it is said that they were the first ones to be turned to beasts by the spite of the God they conspired to kill and in his rage he cursed them with high potency but almost no longevity and an interesting bit. If a female was to be ever born to this tribe, she would hold the might of the ancient tribe but that chance was almost impossible. Thus began their brood, a tribe of monster serpentine goliaths that had almost ephemeral lifespans, none living to each past early adulthood.

 

Though they had highest charm among the despicable beasts that survived the Usurping, they never were lucky with their offspring until the first Woman Gorgon was born. Stheno the Fearsome, a terror of diabolical proportions that terrified the lands of Revea before the times of Typhon. It took a massive offensive to kill her and the losses were heavy but Gorgons came back into the limelight and in fables.

 

Then came the time of Typhon and the Second Gorgon of note, Euryale. Some say that she was his second wife, a symbol for the Anathema that they were like kin to the mad emperor. It is also said that her terrifying leadership and loyalty was what drew out the battle for destruction of Typhon for such a long time.

 

Now, as if by fate, a third one has been born. What terror would she unleash is not known for now but some say that you can catch a glimpse of both Euryale and Typhon in her, provided you are not turned to stone, that is.

Abilities: Petrifying Glare - She can stun people temporarily as a fight or flight response.

Actually, I was hoping to make this somewhat similar to stuff like Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka?, Re: Monster, and Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken. Ideally, you'll start out as minor monsters, maybe some kind of lesser gorgon in your case. Then technical advancement would focus more on ascending in monster tier? A good example would be the evolutionary line of Goblin, Hobgoblin then to Ogre.

I'll be altering Petrifying Gaze and tie it with the Gorgon's nature to charm its foes. I'll be buffing Arcane Potential and Stealth too. I'll post the revamped versions later.

 

Given the picture I suggested, maybe you could Medusa could be a gorgon with human blood, which explains her more socially acceptable features. Of course, she'd be some sort of descendant to Typhon.

If you want her to be more monstrous in the latter parts of the RP, go for it.

I like everything about that suggestion. If you are fine with it, it is swell. I was aiming for a more monstrous side of the gorgon but this semi-Lamia type would do well for a Charm Spell.

Also thanks for the Typhon nod. I was aiming for his daughter but wasn't sure about the timeline of the collapse, so I want her to be a great-granddaughter. Possibly, around 20 years in age still not at the peak of her charm. I have just the perfect advanced form for the pic you suggested.

• Petrifying Glare will be turned into somewhat of a curse and will activate when the conditions are met. I was thinking of something along the lines of "Those who succumb to Medusa's charm or to their own lust slowly undergo a process of petrification when in her presence." Throughout the RP, this curse may be altered and modified into something else completely. Abilities and other spells can stem of this one.
• Arcane Potential - With this one, Medusa would get an affinity to the arcane arts. This would give her a higher proficiency in learning magic and grant her some sort of resistance and a large pool of magical energy.
• Stealth - Instead of this, I would suggest maybe something like a set of physical abilities that would allow you to achieve a relative degree of stealth. Since Gorgons are snake-like, maybe you could make use of that? Slithering, skin shedding, maybe include poison generation and body temperature manipulation. You could also include some sort of enhancement to her senses like a snake's?

Personality: Despondent, only following orders around like a doll. Secretly has a very inquisitive nature, but never voices it out loud.

 

History:

War. What a curious act it is. Men oppress their own people for resources, promising a greater good when the war is won; and they proceed to bear their arms against each other, taking lives from each other, until nothing but ocean of corpses, and a handful of surviving 'victor' were left.

 

What purpose does it serve? To defend the "good" from "evil"? But who gets to decide what's "good" and what's "evil"? The victor? What about the defeated? The vanquished? Don't they too, have their own sets of "goods" and "evils"? What would happen to their beliefs? Their ideals?

 

I would not know.

 

All I know is that their blood; their corpse; their rage, and their regrets; are what help me grow and bloom. They sustain me. And in turn, they will serve as a catalyst. The catalyst that will hasten the revival of Typhon.

 

Abilities/Talents:

+ Parasitic Body: Vivian could use her spores to control corpses. The control is very limited at first, but will grow as Vivian's power and experience grew. In the event of her main host's death, she could transfer to nearby controlled corpse, given that there are any. Vivian's main host, however, have to be a female.

+ Magic Resistance: Vivian has a naturally strong resistance to magic. Or rather, she is capable of absorbing magical energy from the vicinity to a certain degree. When she put her effort into it, she is also known to be capable of weakening or even erasing magic.

+ Natural Healing: Vivian is capable of refining absorbed magical energy, and infuse it to her host's body. This increases the healing factor and physical strength of her main hosts, giving them uncanny strength one would not expect from their frail exterior.

Just curious, but what exactly is here specie? She's  some sort of parasite? Or a group of parasites?

Alraune is the mythical plant that blooms after absorbing blood of the fallen, calli. In this rendition she is the red flower thingy that grows from the lady's left eye socket :3

So yeah, a parasitic flower that grows on corpses, reanimating them.

This is...different. What do you expect from her in the latter part of the RP when she's relatively stronger?

I could always tweak her if you want. I'm just experimenting about stuffs, since this RP seems to allow the more sinister beings in it.

I haven't really thought about it, but she's basically a tanky necromancer. The possessed corpses would act as scouts and cannon fodders, while the main body remains on the rear as support?

That or maybe I'll switch the parasitic body trait to something like vine manipulation. She'll gain the ability to retract her plant parts into the host's body, disguising her as normal human when not in battle, or extend her vines and use it as grappling hook/whip when in combat. Might give her vine & root AoE skills later on when she's stronger :3

Name: Ruetz

Race: Camazotz

 

Personality: 
Ruetz is conniving first, cowardly second, and spiteful third. Ruetz's deprivation of flight has left him with very few modes of offense or defense, resulting in his unpleasant disposition. Ruetz feels the need to fly, sometimes he even feels like he can, but the reality never escapes him. He can’t. Ruetz hates things that can fly, and will often tear the wings off of anything he catches that has wings as misguided vengeance for his own disability.
Ruetz’s inability to fly, as mentioned before, has resulted in him overcompensating. His mind has grown large. It twists and coils like a sinister vine. He thinks a lot, and is better at it than most would accredit to him. His intelligence  can easily match that of the average human, even outsmarting them.
For all of Ruetz’s hatred, he is also a coward. He will flee in terror at the first sign of trouble, often times sneaking up on prey that would usually pose no threat, as to avoid a fight. Only Ruetz's own twisted logic can dissuade his cowardice as he primarily serves only himself, which sometimes means serving others for whatever they have to offer. Ruetz is highly hands on, if he sees it he has to touch it, sometimes this means taking it. Ruetz is not a stranger to stealing. Greed would be his forth personality trait, but that’s too many to mention.

 

History: ---

Abilities/Talents: 

Echolocation: Ruetz’s primary form of navigation. Ruetz can use sound to map out his surrounding and locate individuals. Naturally, his hearing is superb even for a monster. While Ruetz can use any sound, he hears, Echolocation works best when the sound emanates from him.
Climbing: Believe it or not, climbing is an important skill for bats. Ruetz even more so. He can scale perfectly vertical walls and even ceilings, using even the small imperfections to hang on. He can even hang upside down by his toes. This is a staple of Ruetz ambush strategy.
Intelligent: Ruetz is pretty smart. He thinks better than most, picks up skills relatively quickly, and even notices details and facts that others don’t.
