We thought, myself and Kida Nedakh (aka Feisty) that is, that it was about time we brought back the Writing Challenge to Batoto. Now for those of you wondering who we are, well we've been here awhile. It's just that we've done most of our writing in the role playing section of the forums. If there are any other questions, feel free to ask!
So, what is a writing challenge? Well basically the goal is to give you guys different topics to write about every month, with a couple of conditions added in to spice things up. The idea right now is to have a winner every month, but that's open to discussion.
The real goal of the writing challenge is just to get people writing and talking about the things we love. So, who's in?
“It's all about Power."
"Grabbing it. Keeping it. Using It."
"Power is our currency, our DNA... Our God.”
"We control the World."
"We provide the blueprint. And we give the Instructions."

I do like this idea though I don't have interest in joining unfortunately. Still it will be nice to see how this all goes, so I will be watching this.

Now I'd like to wait a week before we continue (it's only been a day so far), to give others a chance to stumble in here before we really get started. In the meantime, spread the word!

suppose this will be like that art challenge leo set up eons ago, where people got a theme every month, then they'd all vote on whose piece they thought was the best.
who will decide the themes though? will there be rules on length, fiction/non-fiction, and type (prose or poem), or simply no rules at all? such questions could be considered and answered soon, of course.

I personally won't like rules regarding length and type. You can be a special snowflake had it been up to me.

neither would i. but such conditions would nevertheless make it interesting, perhaps.

Dunno, was never an epic poster anyway.

For the first challenge I'll pick the 'theme', and everyone else will give their opinions until we have something that everyone can agree on. The same goes for the stipulations. Type and length are left to each individual to decide, unless it's one of the stipulations. As for fiction vs. non-fiction: unless the person is a celebrity, always use a fictional character. Places are free to use regardless of settings.who will decide the themes though? will there be rules on length, fiction/non-fiction, and type (prose or poem), or simply no rules at all? such questions could be considered and answered soon, of course.

I'm hoping for a few ridiculous rules, at least occasionally. 'Tis supposed to be a challenge after all.
I hope so too, but nothing too ridiculous, like making the main character beat someone to death with a spoon in one scene.
