I made a thing.
Name: Eamon Montalvo
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Personality: Eamon is a man who speaks as fast as he thinks. A constant stream of babble can nearly always be heard coming from him whether its to himself or to anyone brave enough to engage him in conversation. Which are few. Easmon, you see, has a reputation of being extremely irascible with no patience at all for what he sees as stupid questions which would include just about anything that could come out of someones mouth. He thinks little of people and expects even less. The best thing they could possible do for him is to just stay out of his way. Eamon's work is too important to be interrupted by the endless waste that spews from their mouths. Leave him alone to his notes and tinkering and you'll find a wild haired man grinning wickedly down as he scribbles out his theorems and thoughts looking to all the world like some sort of villain making a doomsday weapon.
History: Eamon's life and story is one trapped within the shadow of his father's, Eduard Montalvo. A self made man who appeared as if from the ether and seemingly revolutionized rune engineering overnight. Eduard came from no great family nor from some scholarly academy. A commoner hailing from the lowest of quarters who appeared one day with schematics for new airships and inventions based on ideas that were considered impossible in practice until he showed them otherwise. A man who claimed that all you needed to do was listen to the runes to understand how to use them. Eduard Montalvo was an unrivaled genius who created an entirely new generation of airship that put all the predecessors to shame. Even kings and queens would attend him personally to ask for his assistance. Such was the man Eduard Montalvo who the state of Azuria declared a national treasure.
At the height of his influence, Eduard married a pregnant foreigner and settled into small backwater to raise his son. Eamon's mother was a face nobody had ever seen around Eduard and indeed many believed her a foreign agent attempting to steal him away. They needn't of worried. She disappeared as quickly as she appeared shortly after Eamon's birth. Together, father and son, lived a somewhat idyllic life if abnormal by most standards. Eduard was not a cruel or unkind father but Eamon could never displace the feeling as though he maintained a certain detachment. There was just the feeling as though Eduard was training his son rather than raising him. As if he were some kind of test subject to be prodded and whose reactions must be recorded. It was just a feeling though. Eamon loved and respected his father and ate up whatever lessons his father gave him. Until he was gone.
It was the eve of Eamon's eleventh birthday when he found himself shaken awake by his father in the night. His father looked the same as he always did that night and his voice had the same quiet tenor quality as he explained to his son that he had a gift for him. A gift for this birthday and all the ones he would miss. Eamon was too tired to understand what he meant then. His father told him to take off his shirt and to sit up as he took out a strange tool that shimmered in metallic runes with a needle at it's heart. He felt it pierce his shoulder and inject color into the skin but Eamon felt no pain. There was only the simple sensation of pressure where the needle poked. His father spoke as he gave his son his present but no matter how hard he tried Eamon never could remember the words. Only those few final ones before he passed into sleep.
"Truth is not the end, Eamon. It is only the beginning."
When he awoke, Eamon found his father gone and his body covered in writing from no existing language. He recognized it though. It was the cryptic script his father would write his notes in to hide them from those that would try to steal his work. Of course, recognizing it for what it was was different than understanding it. It was almost as alien to him as it was to the Azurian soldiers who barged into their home upon realizing Eduard had gone missing. They asked him where his father had gone. What nation had he defected to. They didn't understand his father at all. Whatever had made Eduard abandon his son and disappear had nothing to do with politics. His father was beyond such nonsense. Eamon had no idea though where he'd truly gone and nobody to this day had ever discovered that truth. They tore apart their home and examined the markings Eamon's father had left on his body for weeks without learning it.
Eamon wound up in a boarding school run by the government and constantly watched as though they could use him to find his father. They were idiots to believe they could ever outsmart him. Eamon for his part threw himself at his studies focusing primarily on the fields of engineering and runes. At first, he was of the naive mind that it would somehow lead him to his father. It was a silly childish thought. His father was gone and all he had were these words on his body that nobody could understand. He found his own reasons to continue on this path that had nothing to do with Eduard. He gained a deep appreciation for their unchanging shapes The runes became a constant companion to him and if he listened closely he could almost swear he could feel their will. As if they whispered to him on how to apply them. It was all nonsense of course but he chose to interpret it as his sleeping mind guiding him to solutions his waking mind had yet to realize.
Eamon grew up and found the world nothing but closed doors. His father's legacy for him it seemed. Nobody knew what had happened to Eduard but just the same they felt the son was equally capable of these traitorous notions and the lack of evidence be damned! Nobody would offer to support his work. No school would let him teach. Even the military would not trust him with any position of real merit. Eamon had all the knowledge and ideas in the world but nobody would offer him the opportunity. Sins of the father isn't it?
Course, that all changed with the Dagger.
