Currently only Login using username seems to be allowed, I would really like to see login using email ID be allowed too. it's pretty standard to see login using email being allowed, and it really doesn't take much, I know from experience.

 

 

I just registered, and when I realised I needed my username to login, I kinda panicked, cause I had half forgotten it(I've seriously not needed to remember usernames since 2007). I use my email, which is easy to remember, to login to almost everything except IRC.

Or you could make a twitter account and contact it to batoto.

Seems like they used to have this, along with some sort of login with facebook weirdness.......but yeah, that was all done away with quite a while ago, I'd be surprised if they'd reinstate it after pointedly removing it (whatever the reasoning was).

If it was available in the past (can't say I remember it though; plus user accounts seem to be heavily username-centric, as opposed to accounts tied to e-mails), then there's a chance that switching it off was an accidental side-effect of removal of facebook connection or of one of IPB updates. In which case there should be a setting for it and restoring it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Facebook was removed because they kept up changing their API for it and I didn't want to keep up. It was also signing up everyone with their real name, so I had a whole lot of people coming to me to have their user names changed for privacy reasons too. I still have some... to this day...

 

Quite simply, it was too much work to keep it up.

 

I also had issues on facebook terms/privacy policy regarding the third party connection. Though, I wonder if people really care.
