[Background]

In this world, being born into the nobility is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because your family's wealth grants you access to the best education and connection to power holders. A curse, for your lineage is the source of untold malicious envy. Such is the burden Faye was born with. She was raised to be the best a person can be; a leader of people; all the while being told not to trust anybody but yourself. Not your people, not your vassals, not even your blood siblings.

 

Being the last born, yet somehow ending being the most prominent among the siblings, she learnt the last teaching the hard way. In order to keep her from succeeding the family, her six brothers and sisters planned to slander, and later get her executed. The method of choice was to put drops of Theran Root extract into her drinks. These substance are known to cause the ingester to develop vampire-esque traits, such as sensitivity to sunlight, pupil delation and discoloration, slight loss of skin pigmentation, and in most cases, mental instability.

 

Unaware of the poison she was given, Faye began showing unnatural symptoms: aversion of sunlight, red eyes and unusual pupil shape when in heightened emotional state, unnaturally pale skin, and heightened aggression. This was enough for the siblings to accuse her of being a vampire who replaced the real Faye in order to fool the province, and take control of it from the inside, turning it a cattle house for the accursed ones.

 

The people, her parents included, believed the story. The story that the real Faye was dead long time ago, and the girl in front of them was a vampire in disguise.

 

Despaired and enraged, Faye decided to proof her innocence by drinking an entire bottle of Holy Water, said to contain the blessing of the Fair Lady herself. The water, known to have mysterious effect on the living and the un-living alike, seemed to affect her adversely, further deteriorating her already failing mental state.

 

Broken and battered, the girl leave the province all on her own, all the while cursing the vampire, the people, and the Fair Lady herself with her every breath.

Being lazy and all, here's the updated, not-so-different CS

I really recommend making everyone base 10 in stats and give just a few skill points to distribute from there, allowing people to diminish a stat for extra points if they so choose. The current number of skills and stat points allow a person to literally only reach ten - which is untrained and average - in every stat. To be even moderately above average in any given stat currently requires one to be either inferior in every other way or genuinely crippled in one (on a point-to-point trade).

 

Either that or give just a few more points so that the "greatest warriors, scholars, scoundrels, and occultists" conscripted by the Order can actually be above-average across the board? If we were common citizens thrust into the ranks of a desperate Order then this is fine, but given a setting that Lancers are best-of-the-best material it feels weird how limited their capability is. We can still make it work I'm sure. Just a thematic quip.
