I did it. One way or another, I stopped the fighting, if only briefly. What to do next, however, is beyond me. It has been a very long while since I could think of my own, and even before that, I did not think much about anything, simply content to live my life as a small cog of the gargantuan engine that is the Frinian Kingdom. Therefore, whatever that is about to escape my mouth, would not carry any deep meaning. Only simple, honest question.

"Your treasure, the thing that pushes you to fight with your life on the line. What is it?" I ask the old man, whose eyes and ears are focused on me.

Frinia Royal Palace ~Training Area~

"We'll let Sofis handle Armand, the two have history. I'll circle around this side, and you circle around the right, we'll find a weak spot and focus all our resources to it", Yoshirou said, looking in my direction. The Ultrasteel Katana did it's job against the towering golem's fist, cutting into it, though not without resistance. Following his direction, I strafed around to the right. The golem's visor blasted a large wave of concentrated energy at Yoshirou, who managed to avoid it. The golem didn't give me any time to process what just happened. Small latches on my side opened up and let loose a barrage of tiny stone-elemented missiles. I grit my teeth as I dove, rolled, and leapt around the hail, doing as much as I could to avoid direct hits while attempting to minimize any damage I would receive from the explosions' fragments.

As I piloted Hannibal through the storm of projectiles, I scoured the golem's side for any potential weak points. The one I had thought of seemed a bit insignificant and a bit dangerous to go after. I was about to give up and take the gamble when a monstrous roar echoed throughout the training yard, freezing all in it's tracks. I slowly turned to see what could've created such a terrifying sound.

Serin...?

Sure enough, the only direction it could've come from was towards her, and the people standing behind her were just as bewildered as I. I couldn't discern the emotion she displayed on her face and so I waited. What is going on?

"All clear here doc!" said eve as she bashing the skull of the last remaining soldier.

"Careful with your power output, you almost kill some of these guys." not a typical chat that you would usually hear from the invading party

"Took us quite some time to clean this up though, I hope the others progressing alright." as she said worryingly

"I'll be more worried bout the one they're fighting against, especially Caspian's, not much can I do when he turns every last one of them to cinders"

"...eh?" Eve suddenly looked at the wall with a  surprised look on her face

"what's the matter"

"The fighting seems to be stopped, doc."

"stopped? what do you mean by that?"

"Just now roar was heard from the direction of the courtyard and caused all the fighting to be on halt."

"...." Gerard rolled his eyes upwards and knitted his eyebrows. None of the members of this team has that kind of ability, not that he know of.

"I don't know whether that's a good sign or not, but that giant thing was in the courtyard and since we're done here anyway, let's head out there and see if we can help" and with no resistance left at the palace interior Gerard and Eve rushed their way to the yard

Frinia Training Yard

"My treasure you say...", the old man lowered his blade... That's right. He has been a warrior for so long, he forgot about the ones he left behind. The giant spirit avatar behind him began to fade into light.

"My grandchildren of course... How it pains me that I did not even consider them, 'Frinia' this, 'Frinia' that...", Serin would know of these grandchildren. Two of them, their parents had died already from the war, and as Armand would have told her from beyond her cell, they were the last things he had left in this world, no other family to speak of.

"You got me. This palace falls... I know of you all, the 'God Slayers' as everyone has taken to calling you. Destroying Eidolons that cannot be destroyed by normal methods... Somehow, are easily destroyable by you lot... I know not your secret, and I do not care... The one that you seek here in the palace is on the rooftop, a passageway in the throne room leads to it. The location of the passageway is easy, but you will need a royal seal to enter", he explained. He slipped off a ring from his hand and threw it at Yoshirou. Upon it was the royal seal of Frinia.

"Tell my king that I have gone into retirement... You may pass...", as he said this, everyone said their thanks or other comments to him before moving on, but only one person was stopped.

"Except you Sofis... My talk of seeing your resolve was no joke", Sofis would turn and be thrown a training sword.

"But I have no intention of dying either, after all I must look to my grandchildren... Show me how far you've come in all the years you've been absent", looks like it was going to be a friendly spar between the two.

The battle raged, but between Aran and Caspian, their levels of stamina were far different, plus the intimidating and oppressive aura and 'magic' that surrounded Caspian, made it impossible to sustain battle with him for so long. It began with slower reflexes, his Avatar managed to make up for it, but eventually his mind would falter too as fatigue took over, he would take grazing blows, and until finally, Caspain delivered the blows that would end his resistance, bringing Aran to his knees, barely breathing as he stuck his spear into the ground to try and keep himself standing, but the demon would knock that spear aside with a mere kick, before bringing his blade to rest upon his neck. The choice was his now... Would this man die? Or would he be spared? The battle throughout the rest of the castle was about to end, but here Caspian had the choice to end one of their generals or not. Aran himself was resigned to his fate, his eyes spoke of regret, but his body spoke of pride.

"Do it... For my king, and my country... I have fought, and if I must die, then I shall... But if you must, please tell me your name. So that I may curse and wait for you on the other side for another bout...", he said. His pride as a warrior was the only thing he had left at this point, besides his life, but he looked prepared for his fate. He was young and brash, but in his final moments he was showing a resolve to meet whatever may come. So what will it be?

The situation seems to have died down... The Magidroids that were alongside the courtyard party heard all of Armand's words, and the castle was almost completely theirs. Everything seemed to end peacefully... But where was the Frinian King? The machine hivemind King had an idea, that the Frinian King was with the Eidolon. Well, they were about to find out soon as Yoshirou and his party made their way into the palace. Most soldiers were knocked out, others wounded to the point of being unable to fight, but it looks like fatalities for the most part were kept minimal.

The dragon girl, Serin, has said the words that can pierce any passionate soldier into introspection. Everyone has a treasure, it could be something tangible or not. It could be family, friends, a place that memories hold dear. Everyone has something to fight and protect for, even if they have to put their life on the line for it. For these honest, innocent words that Serin has asked, it had even stopped the great Armand from his tracks.

Truly it was noble of him to fight for the sake of his grandchildren, although this notion was swept away for the sake of Frinia herself. Armand has gotten old, he has done much in his service. If he were to fall as of now, who would be there to take care of his grandchildren? Surely that the person they need now is not a general but a loving grandfather by their side. Sofis pondered this a bit. It was definitely about time before he had to retire.

This question has also made Sofis question what kind of treasures does he hold so dearly in his life that he would fight with his life on the line. Perhaps it was the legacy of his family, the sword, Tenebrae, and the armour, Alyut, that he bears arms. For him to carry out his family’s name, whose light has been extinguished to a small ember, to ignite it once again into a stronger, brighter flame. He could not think about anything else than that, there was no significant other that has met before. Sofis decided that it would be better give this more thought later on.

"Tell my king that I have gone into retirement. You may pass - except you Sofis. My talk of seeing your resolve was no joke.” Armand said as he stopped Sofis from following the rest of his team. He tossed a training sword towards him and Sofis grabbed it in the air.

“Indeed, we have to finish what have started,” Sofis grinned as he tossed Tenebrae off to the side, holding the training sword firmly in his hand.

"But I have no intention of dying either, after all, I must look to my grandchildren... Show me how far you've come in all the years you've been absent."

“Your grandchildren definitely needs a grandfather by their side, Armand, not a general of Frinia. Let this be a send-off match before your retirement.”

The two soldiers of Frinia sparred with a mutual respect for one another. Sofis gave his all, putting and showing his strength and resolve that he built up over the years with every move. After this was over, he will meet up with the rest of the Iconoclast.
