I seem to recall there was an anime sponsored by the government about a decade ago, that was basically a public service announcement saying something along the lines of, "alright, you silly shut-in otaku, go out there and get a girlfriend and have sex, I promise it's not scary and the population is in decline and we really need babies."

I never watched it—I'm sure it's hilarious but it would definitely be too much for me. Though I always... sort of assumed that having a service announcement encouraging procreation had roughly the same encouraging effect as being doused with cold water.
