This topic is about my experiences what i found myself or learned from others.

 

1. Raws.

1.a. Digital or Mag raws?

 

Never compare magazine cleans to digital.

Cleans always lose detail even with only leveling. it is not perfect or good as people think. only tank raws or some easy mag raws can look similar to digital. however cleans with proper details is enough. people read manga don't care about much details. It is still enjoyable.

bad people always make cleans lose too much details.

Compare magazine cleans to magazine raws!

 

My friends used blur kindle too but they used them because it saves time (don't need scan, clean), not because it is full details.

kindle digital has full details but it can't compensate that blur. it is a failure.

 

about shounen jump digital raws, it is blur but you can fix it by sharpen tool.

 

given full details, raws itself (without filters) is full details too but people don't use raws to typeset. btw I always want to typeset in public raws (it is resized from HQ scans), but I want to do it when I am translator. who cares about clean or redraw. just translate it. translators only complain about bad translations.

Haru no Houtai Shoujo

author changed tones since vol 2.

and some manga don't have screentones in mag version like spice and wolf, SAO progressive,.. but they were added tones in tank ver. (btw spice & wolf is shoujo tones)

 

each mangaka (artist) chose their tones when they do manga. some mangaka used only one and some mangaka used many. they are mangaka's speciality.

shit digital lose it. bad people ignore and call it full details.

Advantage of digital raws

Some digital raws from ebook japan are very good. They have both screentones and details.

There are 8 or 9 magazines which have good digital version in ebook japan.

Kindle from amazon or other sites is still not bad choice although they are blur and small.

 

Advantage

- It is not easy to learn clean mag raws/tank raws (and it will take much time.)

- Digital raws will save time (no need to scan or clean).

- They are almost avaiable and we actually can get. (don't need a scanner)

The conclusion???

The most important is NOT mag raws or digital raws. It is your attitude.

Leave big manga for big groups. They will use mag raws (99%). They can do best whatever they have (mag or digital is fine) but mag is ealier so they use mag.

 

Mag raws for real cleaner (it doesn't mean they have free time to do wasteful things like cleaning)/

Digital raws to save time (it doesn't mean they are not real cleaners or they trust digital raws either)
